“ To the parents of Matthew Corkern
I mourn the passing of your dear son. As a parishioner of Christ Church Cathedral in Nashville I was privileged to know Matthew, and to travel with him to Winchester and Canterbury in 2005, and to Scotland in 2008. On these pilgrimages I witnessed Matthew's caring concern for all of us, and particularly those who were injured or ill. As one of the oldest pilgrims, I was frequently the beneficiary of his kindness as he helped me with my luggage and made sure that I was able to navigate difficult passages. While on the road in England we witnessed a car going down an embankment. Matthew stopped our coach, and went down to the man who was trapped in his car and prayed with him until help arrived. I will never forget the loving kindness of this man. ”
