“ Though I have learned of Michael's death just recently, I am so deeply affected by his passing. Michael was my dear, dear friend and to know that he is gone has shaken my world just a bit. He and I worked together, campaigned together, broke bread together and were friends that commiserated, cried and laughed together. I will miss his emails and drop by visits to my work. I wish I could have told him how precious and treasured he was by me--he always had an encouraging word and an infectious smile that would light up a room. He did not meet a stranger and his hugs were well known to be something that left you feeling the presence of his love and affection. He joked but he could be serious with his thoughts and feelings. He knew God and God's love for him. Like all of us, he made mistakes but in doing so, always tried to make it better and reflect and continue the daily walk to becoming more like his creator. My heart grieves the loss of him and his qualities that endeared him to me but mostly I will forever reminisce about the fact that I could have been a better friend and there for him when he might have needed me most. I love you Michael and pray God has given you the peace that you deserve and I will see you in glory my friend where there is no sickness or pain or past regrets to be had! ”
