Funeral service for Sandra Kay Emfinger Hall will be 11 a.m., Thursday, September 2, 2021, at Riverwood Family, with interment in Union Hall Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m., Wednesday evening, September 1, at Riverwood.
Ms. Hall, 70, of Brookhaven, passed away due to a very long battle with COPD on August 27, 2021, at King's Daughters Medical Center. She was born in Brookhaven November 7, 1950, to Fred Emfinger and Lavada Morse. Ms. Hall was a member of Easthaven Baptist Church. She was a loving mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed by all that loved her.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Lavada Morse and Fred Emfinger; son, Wade Hall; and stepfather, Preston Morse.
Those who remain to cherish her memory are, her son, Todd Hall; daughter, Melissa Jordan; brothers, Mike Emfinger, Roger Morse, Darrell Morse; sister, Jenny Morse; five grandchildren, whom she loved with all her heart, Skylar Hall, Ramsey Hall, Mason Hall, Bailey Hall, and Jamye Grace Slade. She is also survived by four great grandchildren as well as other loving family members and friends.
Sandra's personality was larger than life and she would do anything to make you laugh. Anyone who interacted with her walked away with a smile, and maybe a raised eyebrow. Strong-willed, feisty, gritty, quirky, funny, fun, animated, loving and sweet are just a few words that best describe her. She never met a stranger. Sandra deserves everyone's respect for the unmatched love given freely to her children and grandchildren.
Sandra fought her health battles tenaciously. We feel honored to have had her this long and are thankful for our time with her. With every breath left in her body until the end, she cared for those that needed her. That required a strength that few possess. She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.
A Memorial service will be held for John Alfred Brock, 11 a.m., Saturday, September 11, at Central Baptist Church in Brookhaven.
The family requests anyone planning to attend will be required to wear a mask. We thank you for your cooperation.
Mr. Brock, 80, of Brookhaven, died August 27, 2021, at Southwest Regional Medical Center in McComb, MS. He was born in
Vernon, Alabama, November 7, 1940. He was a general carpenter and a member of Central Baptist Church. He was also active in several
other clubs, including the Masonic Lodge, Shriners Club, and the Moose Lodge. He also enjoyed a relaxing day of fishing when he could.
He will be missed by those who loved him.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Betty Sue Williamson Brock; his parents, Martin and Ruby Brock; sister, Virginia Brock Joyner;
and brother, James Brock.
He is survived by his daughter, Tammy Sue Brock White and husband, Robert Keith; brother, Bobby Brock; sister, Betty Hayes and
husband, James; three grandchildren, Jonathan White (Heather), Tiffany Bessonette, Jessica White and fiancé, Johnny King; and
eight great grandchildren. He is also survived by nieces and nephews, Demple Brown (Dale), Shelia Skelton (Ron), Tarry Montgomery (Daphne),
and Garry Montgomery (Elisa), as well as other loving family members and friends.
Graveside service for Mrs. Kathy Browning Dunn will be 2 p.m., Wednesday, September 1, 2021,
in the Riverwood Memorial Park. Reverends Anthony Yarborough and Glen Mullins will officiate.
Mrs. Dunn, 61, of Brookhaven, entered her eternal rest August 26, 2021. She was born in Hazlehurst, Mississippi,
January 13, 1960, to Mildred Smith Browning. Kathy was a member of Pearlhaven Baptist Church, where she
enjoyed working with youth. Traveling was always a joy. Her favorite places included Alabama Gulf Coast and
Disney World. She also enjoyed Jimmy Buffet Concerts. Her family was her crowning glory, and she treasured
every moment with her husband and daughter. She will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her.
She is preceded in death by her mother; father-in-law, John L. Dunn; a special aunt, Charlene Smith; and her nephew, Jacob Dunn.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, John “Les” Dunn, Jr.; daughter, Samantha Dianne Mahloch
and husband, David; sisters, Belinda Jane “Dinki” Davis and husband, Jimmy and Angie Hux and husband
Donald Wayne; mother-in-law, Pat Dun; brothers-in-law, David Dunn and wife, Sondra and Matt Dunn; nieces
and nephews, Jamie, Courtney, Cassidy, Clara, Davis, Bridget, Jeremy, and Levi Vanover, Bradley, Allison, and
Caleb Smith, and Alayna, Laurie, and Rachel Dunn. She is also survived by many special cousins and other loving family members and friends.
Funeral service for Mrs. Vicki Land will be 3 p.m., Sunday, August 29, at Faith Presbyterian Church.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until the time of the service.
Vicki (Victoria) Arrington Land went peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior on August 26, 2021.
She was preceded in death by her parents Mr. & Mrs. A.C. Arrington and a brother and sister-in-law,
Mr. & Mrs. Clark Arrington. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Michael Wayne Land, two
daughters: Brandy Elizabeth Land Johnson (Marcus) and Megyn Michael Land Avedisian, and four
grandchildren: Gayton Land Johnson, Cile Victoria Johnson, Michael Joseph Avedisian, Drew Scotty Avedisian,
one brother, Luke Arrington (Martha), one sister, Ursula Arrington Ward, and a host of nephews, nieces, and friends.
Vicki was a 1964 graduate of Brookhaven High School. She graduated from Louisiana Tech University
with a Bachelor of Fine Arts. Vicki and Michael were married in 1969. While living in Shreveport, Louisiana,
their two daughters were born. They then moved to Brookhaven where Vicki used her love of art not only
through public and private teaching, but as a free-lance artist. Vicki was a faithful member of Faith Presbyterian Church serving in many capacities.
It is the family’s wish that any expressions of love be made as a donation to Faith Presbyterian Church.
Mrs. Bobbie Rai Crews, 86, of Brookhaven, passed away August 24, 2021, at her residence. She was born in New Orleans, Louisiana,
October 1, 1934, to Buster Russell and Hettie Smoote Russell Soule’. She was a retired Social Worker.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Maribeth Dufrene.
Those who remain to cherish her memory are her sons, Ronald Mitchell (Martha), Bryan Mitchell (Sabrina), Burke Crews, and
Cobert Crews; daughters, Melanie Hallman, Cindy Rhoads (Terry), Martha Core, and Dottie Moorefield; brother, Johnny Soule’ (Darlene);
sisters, Donna Broussard (Ron), Jackie Melancon; 12 grandchildren Cathy, Chris, Cherie’, Nathan, Scott, Clair, Ellen, Jessica,
Elizabeth, Stephen, Natalie, Chad; 20 great grandchildren Baylee, Amanda, Aurora, Ben, Forrest, Khloe, Kenzie, Matthyas,
Benton, Paige, Will, Lena, Alexandra, Layton, Kaelyn, Andrew, Carter, Harrison, Abby, and Sierra. She is also survived
by a special family friend, David Peavey, as well as other loving family members and friends.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.

with interment in the church cemetery. Visitation is from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.
Ms. Nations, 85, of Bogue Chitto, MS, passed away August 24, 2021, at her residence. She was born in Bogue Chitto august 19, 1936, to Felix Lewis and Lottie Louise Thompson Lewis. She was a member of Wellman Baptist Church.
Ms. Nations is preceded in death by her parents.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Loretta Brister (David); brother, Felix Lewis, Jr. (Peggy); her loyal companion, Scooter; two grandchildren, Jawana Slaven (Jimbo), Jana Johnson (Jessie); six great grandchildren, Laken Smith (Matt), Dusti Smith (Dylan), Karlee Abrams, Chloe Slaven, J.D. Abrams, Maddison Franklin; three great, great grandchildren, Easton Smith, Jaci Grace Smith, and Jude Smith. She is also survived by six step great grandchildren and five step great, great grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Thomas Montgomery Hitchman, 85, passed away at his home in Brookhaven, MS on Tuesday, August 24, 2021.
Thomas was born and raised in San Jose, CA to parents Lloyd Wolcott Hitchman and Dorothy Mae Porter Hitchman.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Thomas worked for the Engineering Department of the City of San Jose for over 20 years before moving to DeRidder, LA.
After serving as City Manager for the City of Deridder, Thomas went to work for Bechtel Engineering as a Senior Construction Engineer.
There he was a project manager responsible for contract administration, construction of a Coal power plant in Lake Charles, LA
and two units of nuclear power in southeast Texas. Soon after, he retired and moved to Brookhaven, MS.
Thomas’ interests included traveling, spending time with family and friends, building and remodeling.
He was very studious and loved to learn. He had a good sense of humor, loved to tell stories and jokes.
Thomas is preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Dorothy Hitchman, sister Patricia Morfoot,
and daughter, Robin Elise Hitchman. He is survived by his brother, William John Hitchman,
daughters, Renae Hickey, Kari Elise Geno, Cynthia Simpson, and seven grandchildren.
In accordance with Thomas’ wishes, services will be held privately. He will be missed by many.

with interment in the Damascus Baptist Church Cemetery in Hazlehurst, MS. Visitation is from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service.
Mr. McElveen, 83, of Hazlehurst, passed away August 24, 2021, at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Brookhaven.
He was born June 26, 1938, to William Robert McElveen and Edith Marie Bullock McElveen.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Frances Pearl McElveen; his parents; daughter, Frances Charlene McElveen;
and brother, Paul McElveen.
He is survived by his son Mark McElveen and wife, Tina; son-in-law, Garol Chinn; brothers, Doug McElveen and wife,
Rita, and William R. McElveen; sisters, Elaine Stewart and husband, Sonny, Linda Dear and husband, Drew, and Ann Mullins
and husband, Joe. He also leaves a legacy through his five grandchildren, Jammie Lynn Strong, Paula Jean Robbins,
Gabrielle Leigh McElveen, Eric Charles McElveen, and Kayla Elaine McElveen as well as five great grandchildren and
one great, great grandchild. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

at Riverwood Family, with burial in Mt. Olive Church of Christ Cemetery.

Mrs. Jordan, 79, of Brookhaven, passed away August 22, 2021, at her residence.
She was born in Lincoln County August 27, 1941, to Truman Wilbur Haley and Lula Launa Wells Haley.
She was a Seamtress with Staul Urban for many years and a member of Mt. Olive Church of Christ.
She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Mrs. Jordan is preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Mildred Reeves; and her brothers, Elwin Haley and Walter Haley.
Those who remain to cherish her memory are her husband, Jerry Jordan; daughters, Kristy Cline and husband, Rusty and Kelly Jordan;
brother, Bennie Haley and wife, Janice; six grandchildren, Jordan Willard (Cody), Madi Lewis, Justin Cline, Carlea Cline, Kaylin Cline, Kylan Jordan;

Services for Helen Lavon Shaheen are 2:00 pm, Tuesday, August 24, 2021,
at Riverwood with visitation from 11:00 until the time of the service. Burial will be at Easthaven Cemetery.
Helen Lavon Shaheen, 94, went to be with her Lord on August 22, 2021, at Kings Daughters Medical Center.
She was born on November 11, 1926, to the late Eugene Pennington and Hattie Jane Gill Pennington.
Mrs. Shaheen was a member of Bethel Temple United Pentecostal Church. She will be missed by all that loved and knew her.
Preceding her in death were her parents; sister, Winnie Maude Anding; son, Jessie Givens, Sr.;
husbands, Oliver King and Peter Shaheen; two grandson, Corey McKlemurry, Chris Cabrera;
two great grandchildren, Shiloh Fortson and Anthony W. Roberts, Jr.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Hilda Ray Floyd, of Brookhaven, Linda Oliver (Earl) of McComb,

She is also survived by 17 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and 27 great- great grandchildren.
