Funeral service for Dr. Brent Durr Walker, Jr. will be 2 p.m., Friday, May 10, 2019 at
The Episcopal Church of the Redeemer in Brookhaven. Visitation will be from 11 am until 1:30 p.m.
in Cannon Hall prior to the service.
Dr. Walker, 75, of Brookhaven, passed away May 6, 2019, at King’s Daughters Medical Center.
He was born June 21, 1943, to Brent Durr Walker, Sr. and Grace Cranford Walker. Dr. Walker was a
graduate of Prentiss High School, Valedictorian of the class of 1961. He then went on to study and receive
his Master’s Degree in British Literature at Mississippi College. He received his Doctor of Philosophy at
Somerset University, England, and taught 35 years as professor of British Literature. He was very involved
in community and church, the Chair of Humanities Division, Sponsor of Phi Theta Kappa honor society,
and Ken Wooten Scholar’s Bowl for numerous years. As an accomplished musician, he served 50 years as
church organist in several churches, Hazlehurst Baptist Church, First Baptist, Brookhaven, Raymond
United Methodist Church, and was currently serving the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer in Brookhaven.
He enjoyed travel and served as tour leader numerous times to England and Europe. He was the author of
Lincoln County Mississippi: A Pictorial History and co-author of Wesson: Industrial City of the South.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Those left to cherish his memory are, his wife of 49 years, Patricia Ann Smith Walker; daughters, Kara Walker Pannell
and Leigh Anne Walker Betts (Ross); grandsons, Tucker Kees Nations, Jameson Walker Pannell, and John Ross Betts;
granddaughter, Lucy Arden Betts; and his special pet dachshund, Maggie.

Riverwood Family Funeral Service with interment at Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Joannie Nicole Love, 39, of Brookhaven, passed from this life May 5, 2019 at King’s Daughters Medical Center.
She was born April 27, 1980, to Jackie Wilkinson, Sr. and Aleane Wallace Wilkinson. She was a loving
wife and mother, caring for her family was her highest priority.
She is preceded in death by her mother; grandparents, J.M and Alyne Wilkinson and William and Mary Wallace.
Those she leaves behind to cherish her memory are her husband, Jody Love; father; Jackie Wilkinson, Sr.; son,
Wallace Coleman Love; brother, Jackie Wilkinson, Jr. and wife, Dana; sister, Melissa Patt and husband,
James; sister-in-law, Cynthia Love Dunn; nieces, Kayla Wilkinson and Mary Ellen Patt; nephews,
Austin Patt, Kolby Wilkinson, John Michael Dunn, and Bryce and Blake Barfoot.
Funeral service for Mrs. Ruth Nell Case Rushing will be 11 a.m., Thursday, May 9, 2019, at
Riverwood Family Funeral Service, with interment at Gum Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
Visitation is from 5-8 p.m., Wednesday, May 8, at Riverwood and will resume 10 a.m. until time of service Thursday.
Ruth Nell Case Rushing, 79, of Brookhaven, passed from this life May 6, 2019, at her residence.
She was born June 3, 1939, to Elmer Case and Inelle Anding Case. She retired as a Certified Nursing Assistant
and was a member of Pearlhaven Baptist Church. Mrs. Ruth was a caring wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend.
As a professional caregiver, she was not only concerned with the needs of her patients but her family and
friends as well. She will be missed by all who loved her.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Leon Rushing; parents; daughter-in-law, Patricia Rushing;
brother, Robert Eugene Case and sister-in-law, Kathy Case.
Those left to cherish her memory are, her son, Reggie Rushing; daughters, Regina Rushing Whittington
and fiancé Michael Walker; brothers, William “Buddy” Case, Charles Larry Case, Marell Case, and
Desi Lee Case, all of Brookhaven. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, and other loving family members and friends.
Funeral services for Mr. Charles Edward Franklin will be held on Tuesday, May 7, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at Riverwood Family Funeral Service. The visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Bro. Ryan Thurman will officiate and interment will be held at Good Hope Cemetery in Philadelphia, MS at 2:30 p.m.
Mr. Charles, age 82 and a resident of Brookhaven, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 5, 2019 at his residence. He was born on May 5, 1937 to Alfred and Hazel Franklin in Philadelphia, MS. Mr. Charles was an Appliance Repairman by trade, and enjoyed hunting and fishing in his spare time. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and will be dearly missed by all of those who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Mae Franklin; parents; and a son, Bobby Franklin.
Those left to cherish his memory are his sons, Eugene Franklin and wife Carolyn, Kenneth Franklin, and step-son, Philip Hickman; daughters, Beverly Bassett and husband Alfred, Gatha Skinner and husband Ottis, and step-daughters, Rhonda White and husband Keith, and Trish Elkins. He is also survived by a brother, Rudolph Franklin and wife Ellie, as well as 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Linda Marie DeLaughter, 69 of Bogue Chitto passed away on May 3, 2019 at Courtyard Nursing Home in McComb.
She was born on November 1, 1949 to the late Barney Odell Ballard Sr and Annie Marie Stephens.
She was a seamstress and of the Pentecostal Faith.
Preceding her in death were her parents; sister, Catherine Carr and brother, Jimmy Dow Ballard.

Mr. Robert Patrick Jones, 76 went to be with his Lord on May 3, 2019. He was born on May 10, 1942
to the late James Patrick Jones and Mary Rittinger Jones.
He served his county in the United States Air Force Reserve and was a Landscape Contractor.
Preceding him in death were his parents.

Mrs. Kathleen Smith, 96, went to be with her Lord on May 2, 2019 at Haven Hall Health Care.
She was born on March 3, 1923 to the late Frank and Nora Smith.
She was longtime member of Macedonia Baptist Church and the Loyal Sunday School Class.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband of 64 years, Willis Smith; son, Garry Glenn Smith; 2 sisters and 2 brothers.
Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Paul Dennis Smith and wife, Eva of Raymond, MS and daughter-in-law, Nancy Smith of Brookhaven, MS.

Donald R. Sanders, 72, of Brookhaven, passed from this life on April 29, 2019, at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland, MS.
He was born on August 13, 1947, to Darius William Sanders and Gladys Ready Sanders.
He was a United States Air Force veteran serving during Vietnam. Mr. Sanders was a welder by trade and loved fishing and being with friends.
Preceding him in death were his father and mother; brothers, Gene Sanders and Wayne Sanders and sisters-in-law,
Dorothy Jean Sanders, Deana Lowery Sanders and Anne Harvey Sanders.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Phyllis Tyler Sanders; brothers, James Sanders of Arm, MS and David Sanders of Columbia, MS;
sisters, Linda Daniels of Topeka-Tilton, MS and Susan Leonard and husband Mose of Monticello, MS. He is also survived by brother-in-law,
Stephen Tyler of Gasport, NY; sister-in-law, Patricia Ann Cornelius and husband Phillip of Connecticut and
step-mother-in-law, Josephine Tyler of Angelica, NY. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Danny Ray Falvey will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 2, 2019,
at Riverwood Family Funeral Service. The visitation will be held on Wednesday from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m.
and will continue on Thursday from 10 until the time of the service.
Interment: New Salem Church of Christ Cemetery.
Danny Ray, age 70, of Brookhaven, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 30, 2019, in Brookhaven.
He was born on June 26, 1948, to Frank Thomas and Pauline Smith Falvey. Before its closing,
Danny worked as a CFO for Southwest Paving Company. He retired from Oddee Smith Construction as a mining foreman.
He was a member of the Church of Christ at Highway 84 West. In his later years, Danny enjoyed working at RB Wall Oil Company,
spending time with his family and playing BINGO with his friends. He was a loving son, father, and grandfather.
He is preceded in death by his father, and son, Danny Brian Falvey.
Those left to cherish his memory are his mother, Pauline Smith Falvey; his daughter, Sonia Falvey Travis;
his son, Jason Falvey and wife, Wendy; a grandson, Parker Travis;
granddaughters, Samantha Falvey Wroten and husband, Jamie, and, Presley Falvey;
as well as his great-grandchildren, Kenna and Jay Wroten.
Pallbearers will be Parker Travis, Michael Cain, Andy Cain, Randy Johnson, and Reggie Smith.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Dr. Jeff Ross, Mike Hart, and Johnny King.
