William Edward "Billy" Monk, Jr.

The funeral service for Mr. William “Billy” Edward Monk, Jr., will be 11 a.m., Thursday,

October 24, 2019, at Riverwood Family, with interment at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Visitation is from 5-8 p.m., Wednesday, October 23, at Riverwood and will resume at 10 a.m.,

Thursday before the service.

Mr. Monk, Jr., 62, of Monticello, MS, passed away October 18, 2019, at University Medical Center.

He was born January 5, 1957, to William Edward Monk, Sr. and Shirley Sunshine Young Monk.

He was a Biker and founder of Long Ride Bikers of Mississippi. He was also a member of Abate.

He enjoyed working on everything from his “mancave” to his tractors.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Shelly Greer Monk; daughters, Stephanie Monk and Kimberly Monk Anding

and husband, Dwayne; stepson, Matthew Corona and wife, Paige; sister, Melanie Monk Sanders and

husband, Darrell; five grandchildren, Tristan, Devan, and Kynlee Monk and Carter Anding and Zaxton Corona;

two nieces, Brittany Monk and Kelsey Case and one nephew, Daniel Pierce.

Luther "Dinky" Magee Gartman III

Services for Mr. Luther “Dinky” Magee Gartman III, of Brookhaven are 11:00 am

Monday, October 21, 2019 at Riverwood Family Funeral Service.

Visitation is from 9:00 am until time of service.

 

Mr. Luther “Dinky” Magee Gartman III, 61, went to be with his Lord on October 18, 2019 at St Dominics Hospital.

He was born on December 24, 1957 to the late Luther Magee Gartman, Jr. and Gretchen Oberschmidt Parson.

Mr. Gartman was a member of Hawkins Chapel United Methodist Church and was Chief Engineer for Diamond Offshore.

He was an avid hunter, fisherman, golfer and motorcyclist. He will be missed by all that knew and loved him.

 

Preceding him in death were his parents; and stepfather, C.K. “Pot” Burgess.

 

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Jean L. Gartman; son, Brady M. Gartman and wife Shannon;

daughter, Janie G. Bass and husband, Chris and sister, Debra Spring. He is also survived by his grandchildren,

Ali Gartman, Landon Gartman, Lauren Gartman, Craig Bass, Lydia Bass and Sylvia Bass, and many special extended family members.

Michael Barnett Cupit

Services for Mr. Michael Barnett Cupit of Greensburg LA are 2:00 pm Sunday, October 20, 2019

at Riverwood Family Funeral Service with visitation from 12:00 until time of service. Burial at Bogue Chitto Cemetery.

Mr. Michael Barnett Cupit, 64, passed away October 16, 2019 at his residence.

He was born on June 2, 1955.

Mr. Cupit was an attorney and was a member of the Brookhaven Masonic Lodge, Alumni of USM and Ole Miss.,

and served as a Judge in Tylertown MS. He enjoyed playing bluegrass music on his guitar, fiddle and mandolin.

 

Preceding him in death were his parents, John Ellis Cupit, Sr. and Mary Lilly Cupit Scybist;

and brothers, Robert Wayne Cupit and Murray Glynn Cupit.

 

Those left to cherish his memory are his ex-wife, Tamara Arnold Cupit; son, Michael Brendan Cupit;

daughter, Lilly Marie Cupit; brothers, John Ellis Cupit and wife, Genia, Jerry Lynn Cupit and wife, Peggy,

Marion Allen Cupit and wife, Mary Grace and James A. Cupit and wife, Shirley. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

James Odell Painter

A private family service will be held to remember James Odell Painter, the infant son of Randy Painter and Kristen McKlemurry.

When you hear “nobody dies from a broken heart” it’s from someone who has never lost a child. We were not meant to

keep you, so we let go and will always remember you.

James Odell Painter was born October 14, 2019 to his parents, Randy James Painter and Kristen Lynn McKlemurry.

His memory will be cherished by them and by his siblings, Caiden McKlemurry and Aubrey Sullivan.

He is survived by his grandparents, Jerry and Susan Judd, of Brookhaven and James and Marian Painter, of Brandon;

aunt Tasha Painter of Hazlehurst; uncle Joe Honea III and his wife, Valorie, also of Brookhaven; and by other loving family members as well as

friends of the family.

Mary Lucille Shelton

Services for Mrs. Mary Lucille Shelton are 11:00 am Friday, October 18, 2019 at Riverwood Family Funeral Service

with interment at Shelton Family Cemetery in Copiah County.

Visitation is 5:00-8:00 pm Thursday, October 17, at Riverwood and will resume from 10:00 until time of service on Friday.

 

Mrs. Mary Lucille Shelton, 94, of Pattison went to be with her Lord on October 15, 2019 at her residence.

She was born on January 24, 1925 to the late Fred Warren, Sr. and Mary Calcote Warren.    

She was a homemaker and enjoyed sewing, gardening, cooking and caring for her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Mrs. Shelton will be missed by all that loved and knew her.

 

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Charles Baldwin Shelton; son, Charles Warren Shelton;

brothers, Robert Warren, J.O. Warren, Fred Warren, Jr. and Lee O. Warren; sister, Nelle Brister;

grandson, Brandon Shelton; great grandson, Camden Shelton; and son-in-laws, Lloyd Copeland and Jimmy Spears.

 

Those left to cherish her memory are her sons, Freddie Shelton and wife, Katie, Eddie Shelton and wife, Libby;

Vel Spears and Ginger Copeland; daughter-in-law, Debbie Shelton. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.

 

The family wishes to thank the staff of Hospice Compassus, Silver Cross Nursing Home and Dr. Ray Montalvo and staff.

Services for Mr. Danny G. Boling of Brookhaven are 2:00 pm Thursday, October 17, 2019

at Riverwood Family Funeral Service with interment at Hawkins Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Visitation is from 5:00-8:00 pm Wednesday, October 16 at Riverwood.

Mr. Danny G. Boling, 72, went to be with his Lord on October 14, 2019 at St. Dominic surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on December 28, 1946 to the late L.C. “Smitt” Boling and Clorene Smith Boling.

Danny was a retired foreman and dispatcher for Oddee Smith & Sons and he worked as a special Agent with the Internal Revenue

and auditor for the State Tax Commission. He was a member of Hawkins Chapel United Methodist Church and he served in the United States Army.

Preceding him in death were his parents and grandparents; also his grandson, Jadin K. Case and great granddaughter, Bella G. Montgomery.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 53 years, Janice Callender Boling; daughters, Carlene Boling Montgomery and husband, Mark

and Dana Boling Case and husband, Kris. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren, Timmy Montgomery and wife, Cherish, Marcy M. Ball and husband, Ramsey,

Kristin W. Quinn, Lakin C. Wallace, Kayne Case and Dane Case; and great grandchildren, Guage Montgomery, Addison Rae Quinn, Maci Lynn Ball,

Ellanor Montgomery and Mason R. Ball. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Clayton Callender and wife, Faye

and nephew, John Callender and wife, Cindy; great nephew, Clay Callender and great niece, Madison Callender and a number of cousins

Alfred Eugene "A. E." Smith

The funeral service for Mr. Alfred Eugene Smith will be 11 a.m., Monday

October 14, at Little Bahala Baptist Church, with interment in the church

cemetery. 

Visitation is from 4-8 p.m., Sunday, October 13, at Riverwood and will resume

Monday morning at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.

 

"Our Sweet, precious Daddy had many extraordinary gifts. Gifts that could have been overlooked, but
these gifts weren't overlooked by the many souls that he touched. Daddy was a lover of people and a
fixer of broken wings. Daddy listened with his heart, not his ears. Daddy was the best friend that a
friend could have.
Our daddy and mama gave us the gift of seeing what a true Christian love story was. Alfred and Flo's
Iife was spent honoring, supporting, cherishing, fishing, hunting and loving one another without
abandon and for all the world to see. Daddy's lifelong desire was that ALL would know the healing
power of Jesus Christ and the gift of His eternal salvation. Thank you, Lord, for the blessing of our
Daddy and praise JESUS for taking him into His kingdom.
Alfred Eugene (A.E) Smith age 87 resident of Wesson, MS went to be with his Lord October 11, 2O19.
He was born on December 16, 1931 to Jimmie Lee and Tiny Belle Parnell Smith. Alfred was a
faithful servant of Little Balaha Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and leader in his church
and community. He was a devout Godly Man who loved God first and foremost. He loved and
cherished Flo, his wife of 67 years. He was a very loving Godly father to his four children, eleven
grandchildren and twenty seven great-grandchildren and was a very devoted uncle to the children of his
deceased brothers.
Alfred served his country with the United States Navy during the Korean War. After returning home he
was employed with International Paper and worked as a supervisor in the Finishing and Shipping
department until his retirement. He was an avid outdoors-man who enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending
time in the woods. He learned the forestry industry, farming and gardening from his dad. He had a
passion for fishing and looked forward to spending time with his friends with Magnolia Crappie Club,
Troll Mate and Crappie Masters toumaments.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Flo Smith; his parents; brother; Charles, Kenneth,
Cullen and Jerry Smith and two great grandsons Mason and Matthew Sanders.
Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter Jean Smith Sanders and sons Leslie and Lois,
James and Margaret and Larry and Cheryl. He also had eleven grandchildren and twenty seven great grandchildren.
He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Edouida Smith, Valerie Smith and Lil
Roenbeck.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Little Bahala Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, P O Box
55, Wesson, MS 39191-0055.

Myra S. Allgood

The funeral service for Mrs. Myra S. Allgood will be 2 p.m., Monday, October 14, 2019, at Riverwood Family, with interment in Riverwood Memorial Park. Visitation is from 1 p.m. until the time of service at Riverwood.

Mrs. Allgood, 91, of Brookhaven, passed away October 10, 2019, at Haven Hall Nursing Home. She was born January 15, 1928, to her parents, Virgil and Mable Smitherman. Her love for gardening produced a longtime employment with the Brookhaven Nursery. She also enjoyed camping with her husband and their friends. Mrs. Allgood was a member of First Baptist Church, Brookhaven.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Ralph H. Allgood; parents; sister, Mildred S. Compton; brother, M.J. Smitherman; and first husband, Lamar Kyzar.

Those she leaves to cherish her memory are her sisters, Margie Lightsey and Marie Whitfield; four nephews, three nieces, and their families, as well as her dear friends, Bonita and Boyce Bullock.

Peggy Nell Keene Eady

Services for Mrs. Peggy Nell Keene Eady are 11:00 am Saturday, October 12, 2019 at Riverwood Family Funeral Service

with visitation from 9:00 until time of service and burial at Easthaven Cemetery. Rev. Dusty McDavid, Rev. Billie Joe Deer and Rev. Paul Gabbard will officiate.

 

Mrs. Peggy Nell Keene Eady, 89, passed away October 9, 2019 at Haven Hall. She was born on October 12, 1930

in Lincoln County to the late Andy Lee Keene and Jessie Thames Keene.

She was a Charter member of Brookhaven First Church of the Nazarene (1956).

 

Mrs. Eady was a homemaker and owner with her husband, of Thames and Eady Flooring.

 

Preceding her in death were her parents; brother, Frank Gerald Keene and wife, Polly; first husband, John Jacob Martens and second husband, Kenneth E. Eady, Jr.

a marriage of 50 plus years.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Debbie M. Parkman and husband, Johnny and Eloise Eady, both of Brookhaven;

2 step-sons, Kenneth W. Eady and wife, June of Rogersville, MO., David Earl Eady and Paula of Seattle, WA.

She is also survived by her 10 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and 2 nieces.

John Michael King

Services for Mr. John Michael King of Brookhaven are 11:00 am Friday, October 11, 2019

at Heucks Retreat Baptist Church with burial at the church cemetery.

Visitation if from 5:00- 8:00 pm, Thursday, October 10, at Riverwood and from 10:00

until time of service on Friday at the church.

 

Mr. John Michael King, 70, went to be with his Lord on October 8, 2019.

He was born on May 7, 1949 to the late Clifton King and Lucille Sutton King.

Mr. King served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and was the service manager for Magnolia Estates.

He was also a member and deacon of Heucks Retreat Baptist Church.

John was an avid outdoorsman, enjoyed hunting and spending time in the mountains and spending time with family.

 

Preceding him in death were his parents; and brother, Clifton David King.

 

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 45 years, Karon Richardson King; brother, Wayne King and wife Terry;

nephews, Lorin King, Dustin King and Shelton Lambert; niece, Hollie Cupit Campbell and special great nephew, Drayce Campbell.
