Stanley Venable Jordan

The funeral service for Stanley Venable Jordan will be 11 a.m., Friday, July 26, at Shady Grove Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, July 25, at Riverwood and will resume from 10 a. m. until the time of service Friday at the church.

Mr. Jordan, 76, of Bogue Chitto, died Friday, July 19, at his residence. He was born in McComb, MS, July 27, 1947, to Travis Jordan, Sr. and Bernice Walker Jordan.

Mr. Jordan served his country in the United States Army.

He was a loving husband and father, an unselfish man and wonderful provider. He was the best husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend anyone could ask for. He was a man of integrity and leaves his family an excellent example of how to live and be the best person you can be. He absolutely loved his grandbabies no matter how old they were. Mr. Jordan had a varying heart and always help anyone in need. His favorite pastime was watching the boxing matches on television. We knew not to bother him during that time! He also enjoyed coon hunting or just listening to his dogs. He loved his job and the people he worked with. He made us proud to call him dad, granddad and friend.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Sandra Lauren Nations Jordan; his parents; granddaughter, Jordan Brittany Roberts; and brother, Travis Jordan, Jr.

He is survived by his children Stancie Jordan Roberts and Nicholas Drew Jordan; brother, Kenny Jordan (Betty); sister, Marylin Jordan Crum (Tommy); six grandchildren, Jordan Roberts, Brittany Jordan, Jakab Jordan, Abigail Jordan, Emily Jordan and Alexis Jordan; two great grandchildren Rylan Roberts and Stetson Craig; and other family members, Jerry Robison and Jackie Bessonette.

The family would like to thank Arden Hospice, his nurse, Mrs. Jackie (who has retired), and Mrs. Angil. They were such caring and faithful caretakers. We thank everyone who was so helpful during this time of illness. We also want to thank Keith and Sharon Guy and Guys Pharmacy.

Wilma Christine Smith Warren

The funeral service for Wilma “Christine” Smith Warren will be 1 p.m., Wednesday, July 24, at Philadelphia Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation is from 11 a.m. until the time of the service.

Mrs. Warren, 90, of Wesson, died July 21, 2024, at King’s Daughters Medical Center. She was born in Fayette, MS, on October 25, 1933, to Dougal C. Smith and Julia Nevels Smith. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend.

 A true Proverbs 31 lady, she loved the Lord above all, and she looked well to the needs of her family. Mrs. Warren was married 60 years to her husband, Lee, until his death. She now joins him in eternal life. She enjoyed preparing meals and having her family around her for any and every occasion. She was a faithful member of Philadelphia Baptist Church where she actively participated in Sunday School and many other mission opportunities. Mrs. Warren will be greatly missed by her family who loved her.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Lee O. Warren; her parents; and son-in-law, Jeff Nettles; brothers, Rayford Smith (Nell) and Doyle Smith; sister, Helen Fay Smith Keeton (Everett); and sister-in-law, Marilyn Smith

Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Susan W. Nettles; Michael L. Warren (Marsha); and Tina W. Woolley (Randy); brother, Joe Smith; seven grandchildren, Michael Warren (Mandy), Casey Warren (Mindy), Brandon Warren (Whitney), Justin Warren (Shannon), Clay Woolley (Maggie), Kyle Woolley (Tiffany), and Wanda Bradford (Sam); 15 great grandchildren, Peyton Warren (Brooke), Mikayla Travis (Canon), Dylan Warren, Macy Warren, Lydia Warren, Wyatt Warren, Mason Warren, Harlan Warren, Layton Woolley, Macel Woolley, Nathan Clary, Weston Woolley, Kinley Carol Woolley, Chloey Smith, Mallory Smith; three great, great grandchildren Maryana, Maylena, Myki, and one on the way, baby Travis; caregiver and friend, Nita Barlow and special friend, Larry McCullough;; and a host of nieces and nephews.

The family sends a special thanks to her faith family at Philadelphia Baptist Church and to Deaconess Hospice and Drew Smith.

Jimmy Thomas Coons

Graveside service for Jimmy Thomas Coons will be 3 p.m., Saturday, July 27, in Reeves Cemetery, Summit, MS.

Mr. Coons, 88, of Wesson, died July 21, 2024, at his residence. He was born September 20, 1935, to Andrew Monroe Coons and Jimmie Margaret Anderson Coons. Mr. Coons was a Chemist and Material Manager in the Pharmaceutical industry. He enjoyed many trips to Florida with his wife, Jacque. He was a nature lover, finding great joy in simply working in his yard. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Andrew Coons; sister, Frances Zimmerman; and Nephew, Ricky Zimmerman.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Jacqueline Broutin Coons; children, Jacque Lewis (Bruce), Robert Coons (Annette), and Beverly Lindsey (John); four grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and a host of other loving family members and friends.

Darryl Dean Jordan, Jr.

The funeral service for Darryl “Dean” Jordan, Jr. will be 10 a.m., Wednesday, July 24, at Riverwood Family with burial in Mt. Olive Church of Christ Cemetery. Visitation is from 5-8 p.m., Tuesday, July 23, at Riverwood.

Mr. Jordan, 57, of Brookhaven, died July 21, 2024, at his residence. He was born March 8, 1967, to Darryl Dean Jordan, Sr. and Nancy Rozelle Reeves Jordan.

Among his greatest hobbies were hunting and fishing as well as tending cattle. These were the hobbies he cherished from an early age with his father and continued to enjoy with his two sons. He was a joyful man and very quick witted. Dean will be greatly missed by all who loved him.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Horace and Audena Reeves and Troy and Irene Jordan and by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Doodle and Dru Edwards.

Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Wendy Rene’ Edwards Jordan; his parents; children, Brian Jordan (Brandi) and Shane Jordan (Ashlyn); brother, Randy Jordan (Shellie); six grandchildren, Braxton Jordan, Tucker Jordan, Dusty Jordan, Nova Jordan, Heath Bedwell, and Harrison Bedwell; nephew, Sawyer Jordan and a host of other loving family members and friends.

Bobbie Rae Davis

Graveside memorial service for Bobbie Rae Davis will be 10 a.m. Saturday, July 20, at Neal Smithie Cemetery in Jayess, MS.

Mrs. Bobbie Rae Davis, 72, of Jayess, died July 14, 2024, at her residence. She was born in New Hebron, MS, November 22, 1951, to Thomas Cleveland Stephens and Ruby Reed Stephens. She worked in the food industry as a cook.

Mrs. Davis was a loving mother and grandmother. She enjoyed the time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved to be outdoors, sitting on her porch watching the birds and squirrels play. She will be greatly missed by all who loved her.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Ike Davis; her parents; sons, Johnathon Neal, Gordon Neal; daughter-in-law, Darlene Neal; sister, Betty McCaffery; and brother, R.C. Stephens.

She is survived by her children, Barbara Ann Anderson, David Anthony Neal, Shannon Denise Neal; sister, Shirley Harper; eight grandchildren, Corey Shemar Moore (Ashleigh), Gordon Daniel Slade Burkhart, Kaleb Rashad Burkhart, Ben Eugene Burkhart, Kristen Brooke Neal, Amber Darlene Wilson, Katie Fortenberry, Tyler Martin; 11 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and other loving family members and friends.

Jeffery Lynn Winborne

A Memorial Service for Mr. Jeffery Lynn Winborne of Bogue Chitto is at 2:00 pm, Sunday, July 21, 2024, at Calvary Baptist Church. The family will be in charge of the service.

Mr. Jeffery Lynn Winborne, 63, passed away on July 18, 2024, surrounded by family.

He was born on June 28, 1961, to the late C.V. and Lela Winborne.

Jeffery was an operator for the HAM Club, he was “Mr. Fix it.” He was a good father, brother, and grandfather and will be missed by all who loved him.

Preceding him in death are his parents; his brother, George “Swamper” Winborne; brother-in-law, Mike Buie, and sister-in-law, Carrie “Snookie Winborne.

Those left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Jessica Mazer (Lewis) and Charlee Winborne; brothers, Ricky Winborne (Vicky), Mike Winborne, and Steve Winborne (Emily); sisters, Gail Wallace, Joann Buie, Sybil Winborne, Sally Porter and sister-in-law, Doris Winborne.

Jeffery is also survived by his granddaughter, Kailee Mazer, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

Billy Gene Carson, Sr.

The funeral service for Billy Gene Carson, Sr. will be 11 a.m., Monday, July 22nd, at Riverwood Family with burial in Riverwood Memorial Park. Visitation is from 9 a.m. until the time of the service.

Mr. Carson, Sr. 79, of Brookhaven, died Tuesday, July 16, 2024, at Baptist Medical Center in Jackson. He was born on July 25, 1944, to Roy and Thelma Carson. He worked for many years at a tire shop in Brookhaven.

After retiring, Mr. Billy enjoyed traveling to many different places. He loved his family and was a faithful member of Solid Rock Pentecostal Church and loved his faith family. He leaves a tremendous legacy to his family that extends to many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by all who loved him.

Mr. Carson is preceded in death by his first wife after 49 years of marriage, Patsy Carson; grandson, Christopher Nunnery; and great granddaughter, Ella Mae Carson.

He is survived by his wife of three years, Kathryn “KC” Carson; his children, Billy Carson, Jr. (Melinda), Michael Carson (Janice), Christopher Carson (Scarlette), Ronald Carson, Ricky Carson, Susan Moss (Allen), George Stewart, Brenda Mathers (Mark), and Zadok Stewart; 28 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren. The family would like to thank Baptist Medical Center and his nurse Missy, for their outstanding care during Billy’s time of illness.

Michael Edward "Mike" Smith

The funeral service for Mike Smith will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 17, at Riverwood Family with burial in Riverwood Memorial Park. Friends may visit with family from 4-8 p.m., Tuesday evening, July 16, at Riverwood and from 10 a.m. time-of-service of service Wednesday.

Michael (Mike) Edward Smith 51, of Bogue Chitto, MS., passed away on July 11, 2024, at UMMC in Jackson MS., surrounded by his family and friends. Mike was born on December 13, 1972, in Brookhaven, MS. to Michael Gene Smith and Theresia Rushing Smith.

Mike was one of a kind. He was the best husband, daddy, son, nephew, cousin and friend a person could ever have. Mike fought a long time with Muscular Dystrophy and Lung disease however Mike fought the battle with strength and true courage that only came from the Lord.

Mike loved anything outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. Mike was able to do hunting and fishing trips for handicapped individuals thanks to Hope Outdoors.

Mike had not been able to do as much hunting and fishing as he would have liked to so here lately his attention was on family time and watching SEC baseball and softball. Mike was able to attend the College World Series in Hoover, Alabama, one year with his cousins, and Mike said that was the trip of a lifetime.

Mike made a profession of faith at Stevendale Baptist Church in 1983. Mike was a member of Clear Branch Baptist Church.

Mike is proceeded in death by his father, Michael Gene Smith, his grandparents, James and Mary Lou Rushing, R E and Eileen Smith, his father-in-law, Lynn Howington, his Uncle Jimmy Smith, his aunt, Sherry Lewis, his cousins, Blaine Hamilton and Christopher Rushing.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 20 years, Stephanie Howington Smith, his precious daughter, Gracie Lyn Smith, his mother Theresia Rushing Smith, his mother-in-law, Mildred Kennedy Howington, his sister-in-law, Scarlett Mooney (Todd), his nephews, Alex and Aaron Mooney, and niece Abby Mooney.

Aunts and Uncles, Hollis and Helen Rushing, Sheila Day, Don and Jimmy Allen, Ken and Jennifer Brookins, Steve Lewis, Angela Smith, Mickey and Marilyn Wilson, David and Kathy Hamilton. his little buddy, Aiden Myers and his fur baby Buddy. His cousins that he adored Ryan and Brandi Day, Cory Day, Luke and Donna Prisock, Josh and Kayla Berch, Clay and Alicia Brookins, Matt and Kristen Brown, Scotty Lewis, Jeff and Tammy Lewis, Ritchie and Toni Wilson, Jim and Kristie Burt, Lance and Jobeth Thompson, Daniel and Carrie Case, Cole and Whitney Smith, Holly Dobbs and Patrick and Andrea Hamilton.

The family would like to thank the UMMC MICU unit on 2nd Floor Staff for taking such excellent care of Mike and us as a family.

Bertha Louise Kimble Thibodeaux

Services for Mrs. Bertha Louise Kimble Thibodeaux will be held on July 18, 2024, at 11:00am at Riverwood Family with interment at Philadelphia Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be prior to the services from 9:00 to 11:00 am also at Riverwood Family.

Bertha Louise Kimble Thibodeaux, 85, of Brookhaven, passed away on July 13, 2024, at her residence. She was born on June 29, 1939, to Versie Kimble and Bertha Irene Kinstley. Mrs. Thibodeaux was a member of Philadelphia Baptist Church and also was the Past State Grand Officer of The Eastern Star. She was also a former member of the Builder’s Chapter of The Eastern Star #354.

Preceding her in death was her parents; husband, Richard Thibodeaux; sons, Jeffrey “Tadpole” Thibodeaux and Ricky Thibodeaux; brothers Austin “A.D.” Kimble and Versie Kimble, Jr.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children: son, James Thibodeaux, daughter, Debra “Debbie” Jones and husband John “JJ” and Daughter-in-law, Yvonne Thibodeaux. She is also survived by one brother, Edward Kimble and wife Margo; five grandchildren, Sarah Walker and husband Dusty, Victoria Pope and husband Cade, Jeffrey Jones and wife Hannah, Candace Thibodeaux and Mercedes Thibodeaux along with three great grandchildren, Anniston Walker, Camden Pope and Layton Pope; along with other family members, Danny Kimble, Paul Meaux and Melinda McCullough.

Bobby Gene Britt

The funeral service for Bobby Britt will be 3 p.m., Monday, July 15, at Riverwood Family with burial in Sylvarena Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation is from 1 p.m. until the time of the service on Monday.

Mr. Britt, 91, of Wesson, MS, died July 11, 2024, at his residence. He was born June 19, 1933, to Leroy Britt and Maggie Davis Britt. He was in the construction industry, specializing in carpentry, but was considered a “jack of all trades.”

Mr. Britt served his country in the United States Marines. He proudly and honorably served in the USMC as a Rifleman two years and eleven months, including one year ten months in Korea.

His medals include National Defense Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, Korean Service Medal with 2 Stars, China Service Medal, and Korean Presidential Unit Citation.

Bobby was a man that wasn’t afraid of challenges or working hard. He loved his family and the town of Wesson, MS.

He could be found most days on the backhoe or dump truck. He was always moving dirt or something from one place to another. If he saw a project or need, he would jump on it with both feet. His love for history had him buying old buildings and turning them into places that would give back to the community. The Oliver House and the Scarbough House are part of a dream he had that came true.

He built multiple homes in Wesson and the surrounding communities. He started several subdivisions and also a trailer park, where over 60 families live.

Mr. Britt had so many dreams for his family and the town of Wesson. He loved serving his community, but his first commitment was to God and his family. He was so proud of each one of them and would spend hours bragging on them to anyone that would listen.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Frances Marie Britt; son, David Leroy Britt; his parents, Leroy and Maggie Britt; brother, Orville Britt; and sisters, Earlene Ashley and Wynell Beard.

Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Debbie Lynn Brown and husband, Ricky; two grandchildren, Danielle Graham and Devin Glover; and five great grandchildren, Autumn Graham, Miles Graham, Addilynn Glover, Mason Glover, and Dekland Glover. He is also survived by a host of other family members and friends.
