Funeral services were held for Stephanie Nicole Elkins last week at Johnson Grove Church of Christ.

Stephanie, 34, died August 31, 2021, at King’s Daughters Medical Center. She was born in Hazlehurst, December 19, 1986, to

Thomas Allen Elkins and Deborah Diane Pell Elkins. She was a member of Mt. Zion Church of Christ. Stephanie was a

loving and caring person. No job was too difficult for her. She will be greatly missed by all that loved her.

Stephanie is preceded in death by her grandfathers, Samuel Clayton Pell and Earnest Lenox Smith; and two uncles, Shane Lewis and Michael Elkins, Sr.

Those left to cherish her memory are, her parents; her brother, Thomas Elkins, Jr. “T.J.”; grandmothers, Linda Woods Pell and

Kathy Smith Etheridge; aunt, JoAnn Miller; uncles, Michel Smith, Dewayne Pell, and Michael Pell (Donna); and a host of cousins,

as well as other loving family members and friends, including a special best friend, Alicia Griffin Cook.

Services for Mr. Roy Quinn Holmes Sr., of Florence are 11:00 am Saturday, September 4, 2021,

at Riverwood Family, located in Brookhaven, MS, with visitation from 9:00 until time of the service

with burial at Jayess Baptist Church Cemetery, in Lawrence County.

 

Mr. Roy Quinn Holmes, 80 went to be with his Lord on September 1, 2021, at his residence.

He was born on March 29, 1941, to the late Shirley Quinn Holmes and Nettie Holmes.

Mr. Holmes was an avid fisherman, as he referred to as “perch jerking”, he loved motorcycles,

old cars and tractors and was a lifelong New Orleans Saints fan.

 

Preceding him in death were his parents; brother, Marvin Holmes, and two half-sisters and one-half brother.

 

Those left to cherish his memory are his former wife, S. Elaine Holmes; son, Roy Q. Holmes, Jr.,

and wife Suzanne of Brandon, MS.; daughter, Rolanda Lang of Pearl, MS.; one granddaughter,

Brittany Ellzey and husband, Keegan, of Brandon, MS.

He is also survived by partner-friend, Deborah McGowan of Richland, and former son-in-law, Tim Lang.

He will be missed by all that loved and knew him.

Services for Kayla Lynn Alexander of Bogue Chitto are 2:00 pm, Friday, September 3, 2021,

at Bethel Baptist Church with visitation from 12:00 until the time of the service. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Kayla Lynn Alexander, 61 went to be with her Lord on August 31, 2021,

She was born on October 23, 1959, in Gretna, LA. to the late Dennis Gordan Moak and Bette Lynn Summers Moak.

Ms. Alexander was a member of Bethel Baptist Church and loved spending time with her loving family and shopping for them.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, James Steve Alexander; nephews, John Curtis and Zachary Lee Dunaway;

and special friend Charles Edward Martin.

Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Shawn Kevin Alexander; stepson, Charles Ashley Martin and wife, Tiffany;

daughter, Karla Bett Martin Thompson and husband, Billy; brother, Mike Wayne Moak and wife, Becky, and sister, Pamela Moak Dunaway and husband Curtis.

Along with grandchildren, Emma Thompson, LaLanie Thompson, Dawson Thompson and step grandchildren, Azlynn Martin, Fancy Martin and other family members,

Bethany Wright, Renee Moak Howell, Madison Moak, Ashley Wright Love and several great nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

She will be missed by all that loved and knew her.

Constance Aliene Guillory, 78, of Brookhaven, passed away August 31, 2021, at King’s Daughters Medical Center,

in Brookhaven, MS. She was born in Euince, Louisiana October 11, 1942, to Joseph Estule Guillory and

Vurley Marie LaFleur. She was a homemaker and enjoyed spending time with her family, cooking

delicious meals. She was an avid reader and a member of Christ Church International and was

happily involved with her faith family. She will be greatly missed by all who loved her.

Mrs. Benoit is preceded in death by her husbands, Ramus Benoit, Barbie Hicks, and Raymond Sonnier;

her parents; and brother, Mark Dwane Guillory.

Those left to cherish her memory are her sons, Howard Kirby Sonnier and Daniel Raymond Sonnier and wife,

Cecilia; daughter, Tina Marie Smith and husband, Kim; brother, Ronald E. Guillory; seven grandchildren, Emilee, Brandon,

Nikki, Stevie, Kimbra, Bailey, and Megan; and 17 great grandchildren, as well as other loving family members and friends.

Funeral service for Mrs. Betty Hall will be 11 a.m., Tuesday, September 7, 2021, at Riverwood Family with

interment in Moak’s Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation is from 9 a.m. until the time of service at Riverwood.

Mrs. Hall, 66, of Summit, MS, passed away August 28, 2021, at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Brookhaven.

She was born June 23, 1955, to Lynn Beall and Betty Mangold Beall.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Jerry L. Hall, Sr., and her mother.

Those left to cherish her memory are, her son, Jerry L. Hall, Jr and wife, Rebecca Doster; daughters, Lawanda P. Hall

and husband, Roy McDaniel, and Stacey Trim and husband, Alan; her father; and her brother, Michael Beall. She also

leaves behind five grandchildren and one great grandchild as well as other loving family members and friends.

Graveside service for Mrs. Janis Smith Case will be 11 a.m., Tuesday, August 31, 2021, in

Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery. Dr. Garland Boyd will officiate.

 

Mrs. Case, 75, of Brookhaven, passed away August 28, 2021, at her residence.

She was born in Brookhaven October 5, 1946, to James T. Smith and Juanita Furlow Smith.

She was a homemaker, caring deeply for the concerns of her family, and very proud

to be called a grandmother. She was also a lifetime Artist. Mrs. Case was a member of

Macedonia Baptist Church. She will be greatly missed by all that loved her.

She is preceded in death by her parents and one granddaughter, Grace Rivera.

Those who remain to cherish her memory are her husband, Thomas Case; son,

Brad Case and wife, Michele; daughter, Romy Rivera; five grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren

as well as other loving family members and friends.

Funeral service for Sandra Kay Emfinger Hall will be 11 a.m., Thursday, September 2, 2021, at Riverwood Family, with interment in Union Hall Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m., Wednesday evening, September 1, at Riverwood.

Ms. Hall, 70, of Brookhaven, passed away due to a very long battle with COPD on August 27, 2021, at King's Daughters Medical Center. She was born in Brookhaven November 7, 1950, to Fred Emfinger and Lavada Morse. Ms. Hall was a member of Easthaven Baptist Church. She was a loving mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed by all that loved her. 

She is preceded in death by her parents, Lavada Morse and Fred Emfinger; son, Wade Hall; and stepfather, Preston Morse.

Those who remain to cherish her memory are, her son, Todd Hall; daughter, Melissa Jordan; brothers, Mike Emfinger, Roger Morse, Darrell Morse; sister, Jenny Morse; five grandchildren, whom she loved with all her heart, Skylar Hall, Ramsey Hall, Mason Hall, Bailey Hall, and Jamye Grace Slade. She is also survived by four great grandchildren as well as other loving family members and friends.  

Sandra's personality was larger than life and she would do anything to make you laugh. Anyone who interacted with her walked away with a smile, and maybe a raised eyebrow. Strong-willed, feisty, gritty, quirky, funny, fun, animated, loving and sweet are just a few words that best describe her. She never met a stranger. Sandra deserves everyone's respect for the unmatched love given freely to her children and grandchildren. 

Sandra fought her health battles tenaciously. We feel honored to have had her this long and are thankful for our time with her. With every breath left in her body until the end, she cared for those that needed her. That required a strength that few possess. She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.

A Memorial service will be held for John Alfred Brock, 11 a.m., Saturday, September 11, at Central Baptist Church in Brookhaven.

The family requests anyone planning to attend will be required to wear a mask. We thank you for your cooperation.

Mr. Brock, 80, of Brookhaven, died August 27, 2021, at Southwest Regional Medical Center in McComb, MS. He was born in

Vernon, Alabama, November 7, 1940. He was a general carpenter and a member of Central Baptist Church. He was also active in several

other clubs, including the Masonic Lodge, Shriners Club, and the Moose Lodge. He also enjoyed a relaxing day of fishing when he could.

He will be missed by those who loved him.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Betty Sue Williamson Brock; his parents, Martin and Ruby Brock; sister, Virginia Brock Joyner;

and brother, James Brock.

He is survived by his daughter, Tammy Sue Brock White and husband, Robert Keith; brother, Bobby Brock; sister, Betty Hayes and

husband, James; three grandchildren, Jonathan White (Heather), Tiffany Bessonette, Jessica White and fiancé, Johnny King; and

eight great grandchildren. He is also survived by nieces and nephews, Demple Brown (Dale), Shelia Skelton (Ron), Tarry Montgomery (Daphne),

and Garry Montgomery (Elisa), as well as other loving family members and friends.

Graveside service for Mrs. Kathy Browning Dunn will be 2 p.m., Wednesday, September 1, 2021,

in the Riverwood Memorial Park. Reverends Anthony Yarborough and Glen Mullins will officiate.

Mrs. Dunn, 61, of Brookhaven, entered her eternal rest August 26, 2021. She was born in Hazlehurst, Mississippi,

January 13, 1960, to Mildred Smith Browning. Kathy was a member of Pearlhaven Baptist Church, where she

enjoyed working with youth. Traveling was always a joy. Her favorite places included Alabama Gulf Coast and

Disney World. She also enjoyed Jimmy Buffet Concerts. Her family was her crowning glory, and she treasured

every moment with her husband and daughter. She will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her.

She is preceded in death by her mother; father-in-law, John L. Dunn; a special aunt, Charlene Smith; and her nephew, Jacob Dunn.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, John “Les” Dunn, Jr.; daughter, Samantha Dianne Mahloch

and husband, David; sisters, Belinda Jane “Dinki” Davis and husband, Jimmy and Angie Hux and husband

Donald Wayne; mother-in-law, Pat Dun; brothers-in-law, David Dunn and wife, Sondra and Matt Dunn; nieces

and nephews, Jamie, Courtney, Cassidy, Clara, Davis, Bridget, Jeremy, and Levi Vanover, Bradley, Allison, and

Caleb Smith, and Alayna, Laurie, and Rachel Dunn. She is also survived by many special cousins and other loving family members and friends.
