Tony Maher

Funeral service for Mark Anthony “Tony” Maher will be 11 a.m. Friday, August 13, 2021, at Bethesda Baptist Church

with burial in Union Church Cemetery. Visitation is from 5-8 p.m., Thursday, August 12, at Bethesda.

Mr. Maher, 59, of Canton, MS, passed from this life August 8, 2021, at University of Mississippi Medical Center.

He was born February 13, 1962, in Natchez, MS, to Bonnie Monroe Maher, Jr. and Hazel Maxine Maher. He was a

Sales and Service Technician with Mighty Lube Systematic Lubrication, INC, of Freemont, MI. Tony was an

amazing family man and a committed Christian son, husband, father, and grandfather. He was an avid outdoorsman,

especially enjoying deer hunting and bass fishing. He devoted his life to serving others and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is preceded in death by his father.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Charlotte Denise Wells Maher; his mother; son, Mark Phillip Maher and

wife, Kayla and stepson, Brandon Johnson and wife, Leah; step daughter, Emily Johnson; brother, Jeff Maher; sisters,

Rebecca “Becky” Maher and Dana Maher Fleming; six grandchildren, Piper Johnson, Jake Rowe Maher, Asher Johnson,

Katie Claire Maher, Sawyer Johnson, James Monroe Maher; nephews, Chris Fleming, Benji Maher; nieces, Sarah Credeur,

Emily Magee, Paige Bromen, Tiffany Johnson, Chelsea Maher; great nieces and nephews, Grace Credeur, Skylar and Colby Magee,

Loxley, Linley, and Bonnie Fleming, Tori Bromen, Olivia, Caleb, and Nathan Maher. He is also survived by other loving

family members and friends.

Malcolm “Mack” Campbell Allgood

Malcolm “Mack” Campbell Allgood, age 78, of Baton Rouge, LA passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home on Thursday,

August 5, 2021. Mack loved being outdoors, especially deer hunting, and spending time with his family and friends. The man

never met a stranger and made countless friends working at Gerry Lane Chevrolet for over 35 years.

He was born in Brookhaven, MS on October 5, 1942, to Robert E. Lee Allgood Sr. and Hazel Marie Durr Allgood. He is preceded

in death by his parents and his five siblings, Harold Smith, Clayton Allgood, Robert “June” Allgood Jr, Audrey “Nell” Laird, and

Janie Allgood Watts. He is survived by his son, John Kyle Allgood and wife, Shannon Lamar of Zachary; his daughter,

Kimberly Rhea Allgood and companion, Duane Zito of Zachary; former spouse and mother of his children, Mary Alice Stensrud Allgood

of Zachary; six grandchildren, Hunter Bick Atkinson, Kylie Brooke Allgood, Haley Alain Atkinson, Braden William Lamar,

Austin Joseph Allgood, Kelsi Rhea Atkinson and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m., Tuesday, August 10, 2021, at Riverwood Family Funeral Service in Brookhaven, MS. Visitation

will be from 11 a.m. until the time of service. Graveside service to follow at Macedonia Baptist Cemetery.

The family would like to thank the staff and nurses with Hospice of Baton Rouge for their care, compassion, and support.

Charles Wayne Webb

A private family graveside service for Mr. Charles Wayne Webb will be 11:00 am, Monday August 9, 2021,

at Riverwood Memorial Park.

Mr. Charles Wayne Webb, 75, passed peacefully surrounded by his family on August 6, 2021.

He was born on January 22, 1946, to the late Horace Edward Webb and Arlie Dee Webb.

Mr. Webb was the owner of Wayne’s Lock and Key and was a member of Parkway Baptist Church.

He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He also loved gardening and bird watching.

He will be missed by all that loved and knew him.

 

Preceding him in death were his parents; in-laws, Robert and Audrey Stringer and sister-in-law, Debrah Webb.

 

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 55 years, Beth Webb; son, Dwayne Webb and wife, Jeanette; Stacy Franklin and husband, Charles and brother, Nathaniel Webb.

He is also survived by his grandchildren, Rachel, Jackson, Miller and Levi; along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins and extended family.

Major Johnny Michael Hackett

Funeral service for Major Johnny Michael Hackett will be 11 a.m., Friday, August 6, at Calvary Pentecostal Church,

with interment in the church cemetery. Visitation is from 5-8 p.m., Thursday, August 5, at Calvary and will resume at 10 a.m. prior to service.

Mr. Hackett, of Jayess, passed from this life August 3, 2021. He was born in Fortworth, TX to Paul Cecil Hackett and

Della May McCoy March 14, 1964, he was 57 years old. Mr. Hackett served his country in the United States Navy and

was a member of Calvary Pentecostal Church. He was well respected among the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department

where he served as Major, as well as the surrounding counties and communities he served. His career as a Law Enforcement Officer

included the Gautier Police Department and the Moss Point Police Department. He was also a member of the Mason organization.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Paul David Hackett; and his mother-in-law, Linda Jan Thornhill.

Those left to cherish his memory are, his wife of 13 years, Rhonda Kay Hackett; sons, Colton Hackett (Payten), Dallas Bryan (Caitlyn),

Myca Bryan (Haley); daughters, Kaycee Mixon (Zack), Ashley Hackett; brothers, Jerry Grace, Eddie Sharp, Timmy Hackett; sisters,

Tammy Johnson, Shirley Reynolds, Brenda Carpenter; four grandchildren, Mylee Mixon, Charlee Mixon, Kaydence Bryan, and

Lynnleigh Bryan. He is also survived by nieces, Heather LeJune and her family and Somer Garner and her family as well as

other loving family members, Law Enforcement family, and friends.

George Mercier, Jr.

Funeral Service for George Timothy Mercier, Jr. will be Saturday August 7, 10:00 am, at Riverwood with burial

in Beauregard Cemetery. Visitation is Friday, August 6, from 5-7 pm at Riverwood.

George T. Mercier Jr. died at home August 2, 2021. He was born May 8, 1917, in Beauregard, Mississippi. After graduating

from Wesson High School, he attended Louisiana State University and received a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering in 1939.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as an ordnance inspector in the South Pacific and was discharged as a

Lieutenant Commander in 1946. While stationed in Washington D.C. after the war ended, he met and married Dorothy Ragland

of Elmhurst, Illinois. He returned to his former employer Ethyl Corporation and worked at plants in both Baton Rouge and

Houston where he lived and raised his family of five children. Upon retirement, he returned to his hometown of Wesson/Beauregard

in 1972 and established a tree farm which he managed until his death. He was a member of the county and state forestry

associations and received recognition for forest management and woodland conservation. He was a longtime member and

ruling elder at Wesson Presbyterian Church and recently joined First Presbyterian Church of Hazlehurst. George will be

remembered by all who knew him for his cooking and gardening skills, his devotion to family and friends, his sense of humor and ability to tell a good story.

George was preceded in death by Dorothy, his loving wife of 73 years, his son Tim, his parents, and sisters.

He is survived by his children Anne Woodson and husband Lee, Laurie Mercier and husband John, Patricia Nicklas and

husband Ed, and Chet Mercier and wife Leslie, eleven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

The family would especially like to thank special friend and caregiver Wynn Jones and Dr. Steven Liverman for their compassionate care.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any memorials be sent to The Dorothy Ragland Mercier Memorial Fund at

Co-Lin Community College Foundation, PO Box 649, Wesson, MS 39191 or First Presbyterian Church of Hazlehurst.

Catherine E. "Jean" Lambert

Funeral service for Mrs. Catherine E. Lambert will be 2 p.m., Tuesday, August 3, 2021, at Freedom Church, with interment

at Robert’s Memorial Cemetery in Lawrence County. Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. Monday, August 2 at Freedom Church

and will resume at Noon on Tuesday before the service.

Mrs. Catherine E. Lambert, better known to everyone as “Jean”, was born on January 28, 1945, to Mrs. Eunice H. Thames and

William Garrison. She was born in Tylertown, MS, and lived the majority of her life in Jayess, MS. She attended and graduated

from Topeka-Tilton School where she fell in love with her high school sweetheart, Cleveland Lambert. They were wed on

October 29th, 1963 and remained so until Cleveland preceded her in death on July 16, 1999.

She is survived by their loving daughter, Angela Kay Dunaway, married to J. Dewayne Dunaway, both of Jayess, MS.

She is preceded in death by their beloved son, Timothy C. Lambert, on May 6, 1996.

Jean had a granddaughter Ashlie Payne, married to Kaleb Payne, and two grandsons, Zane Wilson and Zachary Dunaway.

She also had three great-grandchildren (Keegan Foster, Kylen Payne, and Aliza Payne) who brought her much joy.

Nursing was the career that Jean pursued, and she graduated in the 1st class of Associate Degree Nursing from the

Southwest MS Junior College in Summit, MS. She enjoyed and excelled at nursing for almost 40 years, working in

diverse areas and touching many lives. She spent many of those years in management or supervisory roles, beginning

at Lawrence County Hospital in Monticello, MS. She later transitioned her career to King’s Daughter’s Medical Center

(KDMC), where she would retire after 30 years of service.

Jean, later in her life, met and married Jesse Alexander in March 2007 and remained so until he preceded her in death

on February 7, 2010. Through this marriage she gained a stepdaughter Wanda Miller, married to Kim Miller, and

step-son Philip Alexander, married to Nelwyn Alexander, along with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She enjoyed being a part of Freedom Church, her family, flower-gardening, volunteering at KDMC ED, and shopping

with her bestie – Lanell Lambert. She was an avid traveler and enjoyed doing so with family and friends, rarely declining an adventure.

Our beloved, mother, grandmother, friend, and nurse to all, went peacefully to be with Jesus, whom she loved dearly,

on July 31, 2021. She will be greatly missed by those who loved her, and her legacy will never be forgotten.

Edwin Scott Carpenter

Edwin Scott Carpenter passed away July 28th unexpectedly in Spring Hill, Tennessee. He was born in Biloxi, Mississippi in 1962 to Eral and Carolyn Carpenter, who precedes him in death. He is survived by his wife Diana Reid Carpenter, married 34 years, his son Patrick Carpenter, brother Larry Carpenter, Sister-in-Law Donna Carpenter, sister Sharon Turner, nephew Collin Carpenter, Alex Turner and niece Jordan Carpenter. 

He was a graduate of Mississippi State University where he earned his Bachelor's in Geology in 1984. In 1986, he earned his Bachelors of Personnel Management from the University of Southern Mississippi. He then went on to earn his MBA from Millsaps College in 1999. He spent 7 years serving his country in the United States Army where he served during Operation Desert Shield & Desert Storm achieving the ranking of Captain (1st Cavalry Division). He went on to become a Human Resources Manager for major corporations in both Mississippi and Tennessee.

While attending Mississippi State University, he was an active member of the Wesley Foundation. He was a master wood worker, participated in numerous Marathons and Warrior Dash competitions, loved working on his Ford Mustang and was the head roadie for his son's band. He taught Sunday school for over 30 years, most recently at St. Matthew's United Methodist Church where his family actively attended and participated in Madison, MS.

He was known for his always endearing smile, infectious personality and the ability to work with all types of people. He will be sorely missed by his friends and family.

William Douglas Townsend

Graveside service for William Douglas Townsend will be 2 p.m., Tuesday, August 3, 2021, at

Easthaven Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. at Riverwood.

Mr. Townsend, 90, of Brookhaven, passed from this life July 29, 2021. He was born March 15, 1931.

He served his country in the United States Army and was employed with the Offshore Oil Industry.

 

He is preceded in death by his parents, Marcus Leon Townsend and Marie Townsend; wife, Mary Alice Townsend;

brothers, M.L. Townsend and James “Sonny” Townsend; and sisters, Eva Lee Evans and Donis Adams.

 

He is survived by his children, Phillip Townsend and wife, Yen, Daniel Townsend and wife, Jennifer, and Shirley Brewer; sisters,

Linda Rice and Van Pearl Ward; five grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild as

well as other loving family members and friends.
