Claude Clinton Day,Jr.

A memorial service for Mr. Claude Clinton Day, Jr. will be 11 a.m., Tuesday, April 23, 2019, from the chapel of Riverwood Family Funeral Service. There will be a visitation held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.

Mr. Claude, 79, of Brookhaven, passed quietly from this life and into the arms of Jesus, Friday morning, April 19, 2019 , he was born July 12, 1939, to Claude Clinton Day, Sr. and Opal Boyd Day. He served this great country in the United States Air Force. He was employed in the Oil Field Industry for 42 years and after retiring, he continued to work, nothing was too hard, or too lowly, he was always ready to help a neighbor with odd jobs. Psalm 37:23 says, “The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD; and He delighteth in his way.” Mr. Claude was the very definition of a “good man, spending as much time as he could with his family, a true treasure we will forever hold in our memories. He was a member of Clear Branch Baptist Church, being very active with several different groups until he became physically unable to attend, but continued to support his church family, and anyone who needed support, through prayer.

He is preceded in death by his parents, brother, Roland Day, and sister, Elsie Faye Barmes.

His family does not grieve as those who have no hope, for Mr. Claude was not only a “good man”, he was a believer in our Lord Jesus Christ, so until Jesus returns, or until each one joins him through death, he leaves his wife of 34 years, Sharon Mullins Day; sons, Delynn Day (Ellen), Nathan Deese (Rachel), Aaron Deese (Kristel); sister, Shirley Nash (Billy); five grandchildren, Keygan, Gabrielle, Josh, Blake and Jill; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other loving family members and friends.

We would like to thank the servants of Hospice Compasses for their compassion and their quick response to our needs; we also want to thank a couple of very special ladies, Barbara and Teresa, who spent time and energy to help care for Claude in the last two weeks, you were truly appointed by God.

Lord, the Bible says You are “close to the brokenhearted and [You rescue] those whose spirits are crushed” (Psalm 34:18, NLT). Draw close to me and rescue me. Help me not to grieve like those who haven’t discovered Your kindness and mercy, who have no hope (see 1 Thessalonians 4:13); lift me up and give me hope once more. Help me to believe that tomorrow will be better, and the next day will be easier, and that a day will come when I will feel a surge of energy and expectation for what You are doing and where You will take me. Amen.

Worked with him in South Louisiana and we gained tremendous respect for each other through our work, friendship, and laughter.

"God is our refuge and strength;A help that is readily found in times of distress."(Psalms 46:1) There is no more distressing time than the loss of a loved one. Our Heavenly Father knows this and wants to be your "refuge and strength." So "Throw all your anxiety on him because he cares for you."(1 Peter 5:7) He promises, "Your dead will live!"(Isaiah 26:19) This gives you the hope of seeing your loved one again. May you find consolation in God's promises. I am sorry for your loss."
