Willie Earline Deloach

Willie Earline Deloach, 91, of Monticello, MS, died January 27, 2025, at the Beehive Assisted Living in Brookhaven. She was born in Carroll County MS on August 26, 1933, to Erwin Thompson and Mary Rainey Carrol Thompson.

Mrs. Deloach worked as a cook for many years in Grenada at Hambone Café where they served soldiers who were living and stationed at Camp McCain.

She is preceded in death by her parents and four sons, Lynn Jackson, Wayne Jackson, Roger Jackson, and Tim Jackson.

She is survived by her children, Dale Jackson (Linda) and Rebecca Nelson (Jerry); a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren; and friend, Mable Ashmore.

Timothy Edward Waldrop

A memorial service for Timothy Edward Waldrop will be held at Noon, on Friday, January 31, at Riverwood Family. A memorial gathering will be from 10 a.m. until the time of service.

Mr. Waldrop, 61, of McComb, passed away January 26, 2025, at St. Dominics Medical Center in Jackson. He was born in Brookhaven on January 7, 1964, to Willard Ray Waldrop and Ruth Jane Fairchild Waldrop. Mr. Waldrop was an amazing husband and father. He worked hard to meet the needs of his family. His favorite pastime was watching movies and listening to his favorite tunes. He was a God-fearing man, loving the Lord above all others and a man strong in his convictions. He leaves a legacy of faith and values to his children and grandchildren.

Mr. Waldrop is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Gregory Waldrop.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 28 years, Angela Waldrop; children, Whitney Waldrop, Jessica Waldrop, and Alexandra Waldrop; sisters, Teresa Nix (Randy), and Pamela Williams (Steven); two grandchildren, Abigail Smith and Silas Hart; niece, Brooke Williams; nephew, Tyler Waldrop; his best friend, Bobby Zimmerman and a host of other loving family members and friends. He will be greatly missed by all who loved him.

The funeral service for Sherri Michelle Bankston will be 10 a.m., Friday, January 31st, at Wellman Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation is from 5-8 p.m., Thursday, January 30th at Riverwood Family and will resume from 9 a.m. until the time of service on Friday at Wellman.

Sherri Michelle Hughes Miller Bankston, 56, of Bogue Chitto, died January 25, 2025, at King’s Daughters Medical Center. She was born in Tulsa OK, on December 22, 1968, to Clarence D. Hughes and Sherry Joan Roberson Miller.

Michelle loved Jesus above all else. It was her desire that everyone knew the love that Jesus gave, and she was a witness to everyone she met of that love. She was a member of Wellman Baptist Church. She had a contagious laugh; everyone who knew her knew when she walked into a room the atmosphere changed. Michelle was generous and compassionate and found great pleasure in helping anyone in need. She truly loved being “Nonnie” to her grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Ernest and Zelma Roberson and Clarence and Velma Hughes.

She is survived by her parents, William Kent Miller and Sherry Joan Miller; children, Marissa Reynolds and Lauren Keely Bankston; brothers and sisters, Crystal Shamille Rowell, William Kelly Miller (Crystal Nicole), Tammy Robinson (Gary), Todd Miller (Heather), Tiffany Horn (Jeff), Dwaina Smith, Samuel Hughes, Daniella Hughes; seven grandchildren, Braylen Pappas, Avree Pappas, Isabella Pappas, Rylee Reynolds, Brantley Reynolds, Derek Reynolds, and William R. Vickey Ann Williams

The funeral service for Vickey Ann Williams will be 10 a.m., Wednesday, January 29th at Riverwood Family with burial in Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Bogue Chitto, MS. Visitation is from 5-8 p.m., Tuesday, January 28th at Riverwood and will resume from 9 a.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday.

Mrs. Williams, 68, of Brookhaven, died January 25, 2025, at River Oaks in Flowood, MS. She was born in Tulsa, OK, May 10, 1956, to Glen Ashworth and Mary Elizabeth Burns Ashworth.

Vickey was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed preparing delicious meals and inviting everyone to join her. She had a delightful personality, never met a stranger, and wouldn’t let you leave without getting her hug. She enjoyed working in flower beds and shopping. Vickey also treasured the time she spent fishing with her children and grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all who loved her.

She is preceded in death by her parents and two grandsons, Dylan Williams and Addison “Bubba” Reed.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Roger Williams; children, Cynthia Carithers (Michael), Amanda Moak (Trent), Rhonda Arevalo, Shane Reed (Kim), Andrew Williams (Jordan); stepsons, Eric Williams (Patricia), and Ben Williams; sisters, Glenda Reed (Don) and Karen Holmes (Ronnie); brother, Kurmit Ashworth (Claudette); 23 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. She is also survived by a special caregiver, Lakan Jenkins as well as a host of other loving family members and friends.

Laura Marie Barksdale

A memorial service will be held for Laura Marie Barksdale at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 1, at Union Hall Baptist Church.

Mrs. Barksdale, 69, of Brookhaven, went to be with the Lord, January 24, 2025, at King’s Daughters Medical Center. She was born in Brookhaven, MS, May 11, 1955, to Houston Jordan and Gladys Jordan. Laura worked for many years as a cosmetologist, which was a perfect profession because of her outgoing personality and unique social skills. She loved spending time with her family and friends. She was also an avid outdoorswoman, deer hunting and fishing were her specialties. She was a member of Union Hall Baptist Church. Laura will be missed by all who loved her.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Ronald “Brooks” Barksdale; her parents; sister, Louise Jordan Clecker; brother, Calvin H. Jordan Jr.; and brother-in-law, Lamar Case, Jr.

Survivors include her children, Shea Barksdale and daughter-in-law, Dana Barksdale, Joseph “Dusty” Barksdale, and David Jenkins; sister, Virginia Jordan Brumfield; brother-in-law, Glenn E. Brumfield; sisters-in-law, Nita Jordan, Rita Ann Case and Ann Barksdale and husband Larry; special friends, Sandra Elmore, Brenda Davis and Cathie Smith; three grandchildren, Gavin Barksdale, Alexis Barksdale and Olive Barksdale; her cousin Tommy Thompson and a host of nieces, nephews, and other loving family members and friends.

The Barksdale family members express appreciation to Silver Cross Nursing Home and King’s Daughters Medical Center.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Union Hall Baptist Church Cemetery fund.

James Calvin Kimble, Sr.

Mr. James Calvin Kimble, Sr., 87, of Brookhaven, MS, passed from this life January 24, 2025, at King’s Daughters Medical Center. He was born in Wesson, MS, December 30, 1937, to Harvey Kimble and Dezylee McAllister Kimble.

Mr. Kimble loved spending his time outdoors, especially raising chickens. When he wasn’t enjoying the outdoors, he could be found watching westerns on television.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Charles D. Kimble and Harvey Eugene Kimble; sister, Linda Fay Vincent; and companion, Annette Kreutzer.

Those left to cherish his memory are his sons, James Calvin Kimble, Jr. and James Edward Kimble; daughter, Dana Gaulden (Troy); brother, Houston M. Kimble (Dianne); sisters, Martha DeGrasse, Bobbie Crosby, and Katharine Diane Porter; two grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.

He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the third floor nursing staff and ICU staff of King’s Daughters Medical Center.

April Dawn Nowell, 49, of Monticello, MS, died January 22, 2025, in Brookhaven, MS. She was born in Pearl, MS, November 3, 1976, to John Henry Nowell and Joann Wade.

She is preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Benjamin Henry Nowell.

Those left to cherish her memory are her partner of 7 years, Charlene Lawrence, her niece, Alexis Nowell, and her best friend, Kristi Laiche.

Brenda "Bean" Gail Strittman Whittington

Brenda Gail Strittman Whittington (Bean), 73, was born February 16, 1951, to James Rufus and Mildred Burkhalter Strittman. Mrs. Whittington went to be with her Lord and Savior on January 21, 2025, at Lakeview Hospital in Covington, LA. Visitation will be January 24, 2025, at New Prospect Baptist Church. Funeral service is at 11:00 a.m., January 25, 2025, at New Prospect Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery.

She was a homemaker, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with her children and her grandchildren, any meal she did not have to prepare, and thrift store shopping. She was a member of New Prospect Baptist Church in Brookhaven, MS.

Preceding her in death are her parents; one sister, Mary Jane Strittman Norwood; nephew, Shane Wesley Strittman; uncle, Jessie N. Burkhalter; aunt, Elsie Reeves; and cousins, Nancy Jane Reeves, Henry A. Reeves, and Annie Marie Norris.

Survivors are her husband of 55 years, Keith “Pete” Whittington; three children, Jamie Whittington and wife, Lane, of Meadville; Ellie Whittington of Brookhaven; Marc Whittington and wife Jennifer of Brookhaven; four grandchildren Devan Kent and husband, Brandon, of Bogue Chitto, Raney Whittington, Haley Whittington, and Calan Whittington; four great grandchildren, Braceigh Ann Case, Brooks Kent, Ellis Kent, and Campbell Kent; brother, Jesse Strittman and wife, Mary Nell of Tylertown; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Visitation will be Friday evening at New Prospect Baptist church in Brookhaven, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and will continue Saturday morning at the church from 10:00 a.m. until funeral services at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Nathan Case will officiate. Burial will be at New Prospect Baptist Church Cemetery.

Riverwood Family Funeral Services is in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers will be Jamie Whittington, Jimmy Case, Reuben Watts, John Hart, Mike Boyd, and Bill Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be Patrick Brown, Larry Allred, Bro. Glen Mullins, and Mike Cupit.

Flowers are appreciated and welcomed. The family asks that donations be made in Mrs. Whittington’s name to the youth ministry of New Prospect Baptist Church, 691 Highway 84 West, Brookhaven, MS, 39601.

Charles Edwin McCall

The funeral service for Charles Edwin McCall will be 11 a.m. Friday, January 24th, at Riverwood Family with burial in Wrights Bethesda Cemetery. Visitation is from 5-8 p.m., Thursday, January 23, at Riverwood and will resume from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.

Mr. McCall, 82, of McCall Creek, died January 16, 2025, at King’s Daughters Medical Center surrounded by his family. He was born in Tennessee on August 4, 1942, to Edwin McCall and Helon I. Raiford.

Mr. McCall was a graduate of Franklin County High School, Copiah Lincoln Community College, and Delta State University. While at Co-Lin, he played the trombone in the Show Band. He was a member of the Men’s Ensemble and the Wesley Foundation. He attended Delta State University where he was a member of the band and received a bachelor’s degree in music education. He started his career as Band Director at Tylertown High School, and later served as band director at Hazlehurst and Charleston High Schools. Mr. McCall worked for Chevron Corporation until his retirement. Charles sang in multiple gospel quartets including The Revelators and Southern Praise Gospel Quartet. He continued his love for music by assisting with the Franklin County High School band, Wesson Grammar School Red Knight Band, Lipsey Middle School Band, and any other schools that requested his help. He was a member of the Ole Brook Wind Symphony, continuing to play his trombone.

On October 11, 2014, the Band and Colette Chapter of the Co-Lin Alumni Association inducted Charles McCall into the Hall of Fame. Mr. McCall was instrumental in organizing the Co-Lin Band and Colette alumni chapter serving as the first president and with his leadership, the chapter became one of the most active alumni organizations at Co-Lin. Even at 82 years of age he continued to teach in the Workforce Education Division at Southwest Mississippi Community College.

Over his lifetime he always offered and volunteered to help others but would never ask for help for himself, continuing to show his love and compassion for life and for others.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Brenda S. McCall; mother, Helon McCall; father, Edwin McCall; sister, Nancy McCall Reed; son, Timothy A. Kluge; and daughter Melissa L. Nance.

Survivors include his children, Tina Lynn Moak and husband, Paul Anthony Moak,  William Gregory Kluge, Melanie Nadine Kluge, Scot Chance Kluge and wife, Regan Kluge; and Shannon Sue Prather; ten grandchildren, Delaney Grantham, Taylor DeSilvey, Chance Kluge, Savannah Brock, Skylar Kluge, Swayze Holland, Jared Wilson, Stoner Parker, Joseph Wilson, and Jordan Kluge; three great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and other loving family members and friends.

Randy Ray Peets

A memorial gathering will be held for Randy Ray Peets from 9-11 am, Monday January 20th, at Riverwood Family with burial to follow in Riverwood Memorial Park.

Mr. Peets, 76, of Brookhaven, died January 14, 2025, at University Medical Center in Jackson. He was born in Brookhaven on January 21, 1948, to Albert Ray and Anna Ruth Peets. After graduating from Wesson High School, he served in the United States Army in the Green Beret Reserve. He married his sweetheart Judith Ann, and they shared 49 years together before her death in 2020. He was a faithful husband and loving father and grandfather. Randy worked for James Vardaman Timber Consultant, International Paper Company, and retired from Home Hardware. He was an avid outdoorsman, who loved hunting and fishing.

He will be greatly missed by all who loved him.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Judith Ann Peets and his parents.

Mr. Peets is survived by his sons, Jefrey Peets and Ryan Peets; brother, Gary Peets; two grandchildren, Taylor Peets and Leighanna Peets; and by one great grandchild, Riverlynn Anne Peets
