The funeral service for James Pressley Mason (aka “Poppa Bear”) will be 3 p.m., Thursday, January 16, at Riverwood Family with visitation beginning at Noon.
Mr. Mason, 64, of Brookhaven, died January 11, 2025, at King’s Daughters Medical Center. He was born October 11, 1960, to Donald Mason and Linda Mason. James loved a lot of things. It goes without saying that he loved his family most of all, but when you remember him remember that he loved the outdoors, he was an avid camper spending many summers camping at Clear Springs. Remember that he loved hunting and fishing and taking part in all that the good Lord provides. At heart, James was a musician. He sang with the gospel group Midnight Cry for 10 years and had a passion for it. A man can be many things, but most of all James will be missed.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 27 years Patricia Mason; children, Alisha Waldrop (Jacob), Colton Mason, Heather Rayborn, Jennifer Oquin (Kenny), Pat Koepp (Angela), Roy Koepp (Paula), Stefani Sanford, Donna Fortenberry (Jeremy), and Donald Alexander; brother, Carl Mason (Amelia); sister, Christy Beck (Scott); a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren.
