James Edward Cliburn

Visitation for Mr. James Edward Cliburn will be Friday, February 1,

from 5:00-8:00 pm at Riverwood Family Funeral Service.

The family will be hosting a memorial service for Mr. Cliburn 2:00 pm Sunday,

February 3, 2019 at Fresh Anointing United Pentecostal at 2031 E Whitworth St.

in Hazlehurst.

Mr. James Edward Cliburn 77 of Hazlehurst, went to be with his Lord on January 29, 2019 at Baptist Medical Center.

He was born on July 26, 1941 to the late Walter Bennett Cliburn and Theola Eugenia Cliburn.

He was retired from the United States Air Force and was self employed as a

Residential Drywall Contractor and was a member of Fresh Anointing United Pentecostal Church.


Preceding him in death are his parents.

 

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Esther Lee Cliburn; sons David Cliburn and wife, Amanda,

Steven Cliburn and wife, Stephanie; daughter, Lori Beaube and husband, Paul; brother, Roy Cliburn;

sister, Lavern Weeks and 9 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

Mary Nell Teasley

Services for Mrs. Mary Nell Teasley of Brookhaven are 11:00 am Thursday, January 31, 2019

at Riverwood Family Funeral Service with burial at Hazlehurst Cemetery.

Visitation is from 9:00 until time of service on Thursday, at Riverwood.

Mrs. Mary Nell Teasley, 86, went to be with her Lord on January 29, 2019 at Country Brook Living Center.

She was born on August 25, 1932 to the late Troy Sloan Malone and Nellie Wilks Malone.

She was a member of Ruth Baptist Church and enjoyed sewing, visiting and spending time with her family and friends.

Preceding her in death are her parents; husband, Thomas Ray Teasley; brothers, Milford and Ray Malone;

and son-in-laws, Johnny Rials and Jimmy Lambert.

 

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Christine Rials of Brookhaven and Tommie Lambert of Ruth;

sisters Bessie Corken, Virginia Dixon and Betty Jean Thompson, all of Wesson.

She is also survived by her 3 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren;

Tina Ballard (Toby), Stacey McDavid (Brian), Thomas Lambert (Lisa), Leonna Huhn (Josh), Sydney Ballard,

Jamie McDavid, Ryan McDavid, Ashlyn Lambert, Emma Lambert, Kaisley Lambert, Mason Huhn, Cooper Huhn and Hollyn Huhn.

Josie Gulino Rhodus

The funeral service for Mrs. Josie Gulino Rhodus will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, February 1, 2019,

at Terry’s Creek Baptist Church, with interment in the church cemetery. Visitation is from 9:00 a.m.

until time of the service Friday.

Mrs. Josie Gulino Rhodus, 77, of Magnolia, MS, passed from this life on January 28, 2019 at her residence.

She was born in Independence, Louisiana, to Jim and Mary Gagliano Gulino. She was employed with the

South Pike School System as a Bus Driver. Mrs. Josie leaves a legacy of love. She was a very special wife,

mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Spending time with her grandchildren was the most important

thing to her. She will be greatly missed by her loved ones, her friends at Terry’s Creek Baptist Church,

and by her two much loved “fur babies”, Cena and Molly.

She is preceded in death by her parents and one son, Kelly Wayne Rosata.

Those left to cherish her memory are, her husband, Curtis Melvyn Rhodus; sons, David Anthony Rosata a

nd wife Karen, Kelvin Paul Rosata and wife Jessica; daughters, Linda Gail Rhodus Owen and husband Frank,

Sherrie Dee Rhodus Edgy and husband, Joey; brother, Joe Gulino; her twin sister, Marie Gulino Musacchia and

sister, Francis Gulino Firman; she is also survived by her 15 grandchildren, Daniel, Tiffany, Jon Curtis,

Darla, Jerrett, Vince, Phyllis, Dylan, Jake, Jax, Randi, Kristie, Tony, Genna, and Kelly, and by her ten great grandchildren.

Anthony John "Tony" Damico

Mr. Anthony John “Tony” Damico, 69, of Brookhaven, passed from this life on January 27, 2019,

at his residence. He was born September 16, 1949, to Anthony John Damico, Sr. and Clara Allgood Damico.

He was a Small Engine Repairman and he served his country in the United States Marine Corps.

Mr. Damico is preceded in death by his parents and his infant brother, Paul Damico.

Those left to cherish his memory are, his sister, Mary Ann Norwood;

nephew, Paul Vanover and wife, Courtney and their children, Megan and Madison;

niece, Sylvia Teasley and husband, Matthew.

Theresia Blades Edwards

Services for Mrs. Theresia Blades Edwards of Brookhaven are 2:00 pm Wednesday, January 30, 2019

at Riverwood Family Funeral Service with burial at New Sight Cemetery.

Visitation is from 12:00 until time of service on Wednesday.

Mrs. Theresia Blades Edwards, 92, went to be with her Lord on January 27, 2019

at Silver Cross Health and Rehab.

She was born on July 31, 1926 to the late Doc and Ollie Blades.

Preceding her in death are her parents; husband, Paul Edwards; daughter, Linda Edwards Covington;

 

sons, Richard Paul Edwards, Robert James Edwards, Jack E. Edwards; brother, Otis L. Blades and sister, Nora Bell White.

Those left to cherish her memory are her son, William M. Edwards and wife, Kim of Brookhaven

and daughter, Paula E. Cook and husband Woody of Brandon.

She is also survived by 14 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren and a host of great-great grandchildren.

She will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her.

Mr. Samuel Carlton Cobb, 84, went to be with his Lord on January 26, 2019

at King’s Daughters Medical Center.

He was born on January 13, 1934 to the late Sam and Alma Cobb.

He played basketball and football at Co-Lin High School.

He retired with 20 years service from the United States Air Force

and was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church.

Preceding him in death are his parents.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 61 years, Carol Allen Cobb;

sister-in-law, Judy Ashley; nieces, Cindy A. Smith and Sandra A. Stewart and nephew, Scott Ashley.

Edna Powell Sones

The homegoing service for Mrs. Edna Powell Sones will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, January 28, 2019,

at First Baptist Church Brookhaven, with interment at Sones Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery

in Carriere, MS, at 4:00 p.m. Friends may visit with the family from 9:30 a.m. until time of the service on Monday.

 

Edna Powell Sones, affectionately known to all who

knew her as Nana, went to be with the Lord on

January 25, 2019. She was born December 8, 1928

to Tommie Powell and Rosabelle Marshall Fletcher.

She was preceded in her death by her husband,

U.G. Sones; her parents; and one sister, Mildred Reed.

Those left to cherish her memory are, her sons:

Dr. Jim Sones and wife, Debbie; Bill Sones and wife, Theresa;

sister, Nellie Gammons; 9 grandchildren,

Jay Sones and fiancé, Lucy; Ken Sones and wife, Suzanne;

Megan Clapton and husband, Marty;

Michael Germany; Sunday Holmes and husband, Jason;

Sicily Green and husband, Jason; Dr. Bill Sones, Jr.

and wife, Carrie; Ben Sones and wife Estelle;

Sam Sones and wife, Brittany. She was also

blessed with 24 great grandchildren.

After spending over thirty-five years raising their family in Eupora,

Edna and her husband U.G. moved

to be near their family in Brookhaven. She opened

Sones Interiors and used her decorating talent to

enrich the homes and lives of many people. She and

her husband became beloved members serving the Lord at

First Baptist Church faithful. Later she and U.G.

became the managers of the Inez Hotel Apartments

for almost twenty years, blessing and serving the many residents who lived there.

At the age of 80, upon her retirement, she told her son Bill,

“I never thought that I would retire this early!” She had a can-do spirit

and never wanted to slow down. She will be fondly remembered for her

devotion to her husband, her family and friends, her church and her community.

Robert "Bob" Weisinger

Services for Mr. Robert “Bob” Weisinger, of Wesson are 2:00 pm Sunday, January 27, 2019

at Mt Zion Baptist Church with burial at church cemetery.

Visitation is Saturday, January 26, at Riverwood Family from 4:00-8:00 pm.

 

Mr. Robert “Bob” Weisinger, 85, went to be with his Lord on January 24, 2019 at his residence.

He was born on July 19, 1933 to the late Raymond Edward Weisinger and Ada Guice Weisinger.

He served in the United States Army during the Korean War and was a Purple Heart and Bronze Star Recipient.

He was member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School. He loved his church and his country.

Mr. Weisinger retired as a Pharmaceutical Salesman for Schering-Plough, was a Master Mason (Pearl Lodge)

as well as a member of the American Legion. He was professional boxer and fought with the Golden Glove.

He also had his pilots license and loved attending Gospel Music Festivals and camping

 

Preceding him in death are his parents.

 

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Henrietta; son and daughter-in-law, Dr’s. Lee and Karen Walton;

sister, JoAnne Godwin and husband Thad and 5 grandchildren, Maggie Walton, Christian Barnard and wife Ashton,

Matthew Walton and wife Mariah, Jordan Barnard and Nick Barnard and 4 great grandchildren, Hayden, Bryson, Jace and Anakin.

Memorial can be given in his name to the Hope House in Jackson, MS.

Olive Vaughn McDowell

The homegoing service for Mrs. Olive Vaughn McDowell will be 2:00 p.m., Sunday, January 27, 2019,

at New Prospect Baptist Church, with interment at Roseland Cemetery in Gloster, MS. Friends may

visit with the family from 5:00-8:00 p.m., Saturday, January 26, at Riverwood family and will resume at

New Prospect from 1:00 p.m. until time of the service.

 

Mrs. Olive Vaughn McDowell entered the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on January 25, 2019,

surrounded by her family, and the angels that have ministered to her during her illness. She was a resident of

Brookhaven and was 79 years young. Mrs. Olive was the “Proverbs 31” woman, “who can find a virtuous woman?

For her price is far above rubies…” She was the glue that held her family together, loving each one of

them equally. She also treasured her calling as a faithful servant, working in the kitchen at New Prospect,

and serving the Lord in any position she was asked as well as her WMU group. Mrs. Olive found pleasure

in her keeping up flower beds and in cooking tremendous meals for her family. She retired from work as an

Office Manager in the Medical Field and was a treasured member of New Prospect Baptist Church. She

will be greatly missed by all who loved her.

 

Mrs. Olive is preceded in death by her husband, Robert McDowell; parents, Vaughn and Dorothy Campbell;

infant sons, Robert, Jr. and John Lamar McDowell; brother, Harris Campbell; sisters, Dotty Hansen,

Laverne Temple; and son-in-law, Patrick Carter.

 

Those left here to hold sweet memories of her are her sons, James McDowell, Timothy McDowell and wife,

Becky, and Jonathan McDowell and wife, Kimber; daughter, Angela McDowell Carter; brothers, John Campbell

and wife, Silvia and Steve Campbell and wife, Yvonne; and her sister, Minnie Campbell. She is also survived

by her ten grandchildren, Hunter McDowell, Emily Torres, Jennifer Radzewicz, Melissa Carter,

Wilson McDowell, Brennan McDowell, Tyler McDowell, Allison Carter, Robbie McDowell,

Wayne McDowell and three great grandchildren, Kyler McDowell, Hayden McDowell, and Parker Torres.

 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice Ministries of Ridgeland.

Ralph Covington, Sr

The funeral service for Mr. Ralph Covington, Sr., will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 26, 2019,

at Riverwood Family with interment at New Sight Cemetery.

Visitation will be at Riverwood, from 5:00-8:00 p.m., Friday, January 25, and will resume at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, until the time of service.

 

Mr. Ralph Covington, 84, of Wesson, passed away January 23, 2019, at Merit Health Central.

He was born on June 11, 1934 to Wiley and Winnie Covington. He was an oilfield worker until his retirement.

Mr. Ralph was an avid sports fan, and he also enjoyed the outdoors, running his dogs and turkey hunting.

He was a member of Heucks Retreat Baptist Church.

 

He is preceded in death by his wives, Mattie Merle Thompson Covington and Frances Jewel Cowart Covington;

his parents; brother, Grady Covington; and sister, Elaine Holland.

 

Those left to cherish his memory are, his sons, Ralph Covington, Jr. (Mary), Bobby Glen (Kelly);

daughters, Barbara Moak (Joel), Mary Sue Devorss (John), Patsy Nations (Wade); sister, Geneva Moak (Delos);

11 grandchildren, Jaime (Todd), Colt, Chase, Lee, Olivia (Ryan), Dara, Jedd (Heather), Kaitlin (Justen), Amber, Charles, and Sarah.

He is also survived by his church family at Heucks Retreat and also his friends at Rebel Testers.
