Hulon Wesley McCain

Hulon Wesley McCain, age 73, of Franklin Twp., NJ passed away on Tuesday, July 7, 2020,

at Hunterdon Medical Center in Raritan Twp., NJ.

He was born on October 31, 1946, in Tylertown, MS. He moved to NJ in 1980 and resided in Bergen County, Clinton Twp. and Franklin Twp.

He was the son of the late Arnold Wesley and Kathleen Carney McCain.

 

Hulon was the husband of Permelia Arceneaux McCain of Franklinton, LA, celebrating 48 years of marriage.

Hulon earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Mississippi College, his Master’s Degree from the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, and his Ph.D.

from the University of Alabama in Birmingham. He went on to continue his post-doctoral work in San Francisco, CA.

He spent many years teaching as a Professor at Fairleigh Dickinson University in Madison, NJ.

He also worked as a Pharmacologist for Colgate-Palmolive and also Wyeth in Parsippany, NJ until his retirement in 2005.

Hulon was a member of the Antique Automobile Club of America. He loved antique cars and especially enjoyed going to car shows and restoring his own classic cars.

 

Survivors in addition to his loving wife include two sons; Hulon Wesley McCain II of Franklinton, LA and his wife Meadow Meyer McCain, and Jon Wesley Joseph McCain of Franklin Twp., NJ.

Two grandchildren; Mary Elizabeth McCain and Damien Wesley McCain. Six brothers; Tommy McCain and his wife Cheryl of Covington, LA,

Willard Brister and his wife Bonnie of Jayess, MS, Jimmy Gail McCain of Citronelle, AL, Billy Lynn McCain and his wife Georgia of Citronelle, AL,

Mark McCain and his wife Deborah of Jayess, MS and Brain Arnold McCain of Jayess, MS. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces,

and great-nephews. He is also survived by his maternal Aunts; Billy Reid and Izette Carney and paternal Aunt; Geneva Holmes.

 

Graveside service will take place on Monday, July 13, 2020, at 1:00 pm at Powell’s Grove Cemetery in Jayess, MS.

    Hulon was my mother's 1st cousin, but was more like a nephew to her. My mother did not have any siblings, but Hulon's mom, Aunt Kat, was more like a sister to my mother. Hulon would call my mother several times a year to just check up on her. She looked forward to those calls and Christmas cards every year. My deepest sympathy to his family.
