Jerry Alton King

Visitation for Mr. Jerry Alton King will be held on Thursday, February 10th, 2022, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Topeka Baptist Church, China Grove Road, Jayess, MS, continuing Friday from 10 00 A.M. until time of Memorial Service at 11: 00 A.M. at the church. Interment will follow in Roberts Memorial Cemetery adjacent to the church.

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the February 8, 2022, death of Mr. Jerry Alton King, of Monticello, MS, who was 79 years of age. He was born December 25, 1942, in Walthall County, MS with the family’s residence in rural Lawrence County, MS.

He was predeceased by his parents, Lucille Hedgepeth King and John Alton King; his sister, Billie King Hall, and his daughter, Belinda King Brister.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Betty Watson King; his children, Sheri King Everett (Victor) of Monticello, MS, Vicky King Johnson (Wayne) of Crosby, MS, Jerry Darrel King, Sr. (Chasity) of Monticello, MS, and (Curt Brister) of Jayess, MS.

He is also survived by 17 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and a host of extended family and friends.

Jerry loved his four siblings: His brother, Jimmy Lyn King (Donna), Sisters: Billie King Hall (Joe), Sandra King Sarich (Ron) and Mary Beth Young.

Early in life Jerry took to heart Jesus’ commandments to “love The Lord your God with all of your mind, soul, and strength and love your neighbor as yourself. “

Jerry lived his life to serve his Lord God through involvement in his church and ministering through The Gideons International.

He loved people. He engaged family, friends, and strangers in conversation as often as he could. He loved to laugh and loved to cause others to find humor in everyday life.

Jerry was a humble family man who was a good husband, a good daddy/papaw/great grandpa, and a good friend. His memory will be cherished, and he will be greatly missed.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Topeka Baptist Church Building Fund, or purchase of Bibles through The Gideons International.
