Walter Daniel "Danny" Robinson

Funeral service for Mr. Walter Daniel “Danny” Robinson will be 11 a.m., Thursday, April 21, at First United Methodist Church with a 2 p.m.

burial in Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery, Ellisville, MS. Visitation is from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.

Danny was born May 2, 1948, in Ellisville, MS, to Paul Dan Robinson and Elizabeth Smith Robinson. He grew up in Ellisville and graduated

from South Jones High School in 1966 and from Delta State University, majoring in music, in 1970.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Max Richard Robinson; and two brothers-in-law, Denton Lotz of Cape Cod, MA and

Alton Nowell of Laurel, MS.

He leaves behind his wife of 27 years, Glenda Ferrell Robinson; her children, whom he called his own, Trey Norton (Roxanne), and Susan Norton,

all of Brookhaven, MS; two precious granddaughters, Carolyn Yester (Alan) of Birmingham, AL and Lisa Alexander, of Brookhaven, MS; and

two sisters, Janice Lotz of Cape Cod, MA and Martha Nowell of Laurel, MS; as well as a host of nieces and nephews who dearly loved their “Uncle D”.

Danny was a member of the Hattiesburg Concert Band where he played a mean trombone. He was also a charter member of the Lincoln County Choral Society

and made his debut with them at Carnegie Hall, New York, in January 2016.

Danny shared his lifelong love of music with all who knew him. He was a former member of First Presbyterian Church and with

The Usual Players Brookhaven Little Theatre. He was a faithful choir member, hand bell ringer, and supporter of First United Methodist Church.

Danny was retired from the Social Security Administration and Harrigill Funeral Home. At the time of his death, he was a joyfully employed

part time office assistant for Shelley Harrigill at Brookhaven Law.

He will be greatly missed by all who knew him, including his sweet pets, Sandy, Cissi, and Snow.

Memorials may be sent to First United Methodist Church, Brookhaven, Blessings in a Backpack in care of FUMC, or Brookhaven Animal Rescue League.

The family is grateful for all the love and support they have received from friends and community.

Godspeed Danny Boy.

There are some who bring a light so great to the world that even after they are gone the light remains. Talented, caring, and an inspiration to all, Danny’s light shines brightly. As a fraternity brother and life-long friend, I was honored to know him. Danny, Glenda, and his family will always be in my prayers. God bless you, Danny.

I am so saddened to hear this. Mr. Robinson was my favorite band director (Carthage High School 1970-1973). He made band fun and we all loved him as a teacher. Prayers for his family.

Danny was one of the nicest people I’ve met here in Brookhaven or anywhere else. I so enjoyed our conversations in rehearsal breaks at LCCS, especially as we were preparing to go to New York. He will be missed and I’m sure, fondly remembered by so many.
