Father Matthew brought his joie de vivre to his friendships, his parish work and his pilgrimages. Allen and I were blessed to travel with Matthew to England, including Canterbury. Our time traveling with him is among our fondest memories. He wove into his trips spiritual contemplation, the ability to meet priests and nuns of the Anglican communion, fascinating historical locations and fun. He taught us that God is always within and with you whereever you travel.

We miss Matthew. Our deepest sympathy to his parents and family that Matthew's presence among us was too brief.

Matthew was a warm, passionate and kind Priest. He cared deeply about people and loved Jesus deeply. He was a perfect example of making people feel welcome. He would always put you at ease, help you settle in and bridge the gap between friend and stranger. Well done good and faithful servant.

Mathew's persuasive enthusiasm, love of people, commitment to his God and penchant for pilgrimage endeared to all with whom he had to do.

It was a pleasure and privilege to work with him facilitating pilgrimages to; Lincoln, Rydal and Jarrow in the UK and with his connection with Vergers worldwide.

Taken too soon with much left to do on this side of Glory, now he will enthuse the angels in paradise.

May the peace and love of Christ comfort the hearts of those who are closest to him knowing that the loss of his presence is deeply felt in this life as he was a tremendous witness and guiding light to so many in this world and will be forever missed.

Matthew was a friend and beautifully compassionate Priest, and witness of God's extravagant inclusive love. Smart, talented, humorous, he was a friend of Jesus and able to see the image of God in everyone without exception. He was also a huge supporter of Yale Divinity School and Berkeley, the Episcopal community at YDS.

Blessings to his parents and family during this sacred and fragile time. May his good soul now be at one with God who continues to love him unconditionally.

As a college friend, I remember Matt as a man of deep faith with whom one could have thoughtful discussions. He could also be a friend to laugh with and gain comfort from when needed. He will be missed.

Wow! This is so sudden and tragic! I was in Boy Scouts with Matthew and Jeremy in the 80's. My prayers for his family. Such a great guy! He will truly be missed.
