She was a graduate of Gloster High School where she was a member of the band, a cheerleader, and homecoming queen. She received her B.A. from Blue Mountain College, in education. After graduating from Blue Mountain, Mrs. Ray taught in several different schools, including, Crosby, Fernwood, South Pike, Saint Alphonsus, North Pike, and Pine Hills. She was a member of Galilee Baptist Church where she played piano and sang in the choir. She will be greatly missed by all who loved her.

Those who remain to cherish her memory are her husband of 56 years, Joe C. Ray; daughters, Tina Ray Robinson and husband, Scott and Teresa Ray Stovall and husband, Keith; sister, Peggy Lewis Jackson; five grandchildren, Matthew Harrell, Chad Robinson, Ramie Stovall, Isaac Stovall, and Camp Stovall. Mrs. Ray was my first grade teacher at Crosby Elementary School. She was the best teacher I ever had! I will always remember her with great love and much respect! She was the reason I became a teacher! My heartfelt sympathy and respect is extended to all her family and friends who knew her and loved her! May she rest in the arms of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ! ❤️?

Such a dear member of my Sunday School class at Galilee. She was such an encouragement to me. May the Lord comfort each one with memories to treasure and to share.

Words cannot express my love for Gay. Without her, I literally would not be here. My mom's best friend since 1963, I know she met her with a big hug in Heaven. I'm thankful when Joe told her to get a date for his Buddy when they were coming home on leave Gay fixed my mom up with my dad.

It has been a friendship that has connected us together for years and it defines the phrase "like family."

My heart is breaking with y'all right now. Even as we know she is at rest and restored with Him, it does not make the hurt any easier.

You are in our thoughts and prayers.

    We love you.
    James, Deborah, and Jacob
