Edwin Scott Carpenter

Scott's celebration of life will be at St. Matthew's United Methodist Church in Madison, MS.

Visitation: Thursday, August 5,  12pm; Service: Thursday, August 5, 2021, 1pm

Burial to follow at 4pm in Easthaven Cemetery in Brookhaven, Mississippi.

Edwin Scott Carpenter passed away July 28th unexpectedly in Spring Hill, Tennessee. He was born in Biloxi, Mississippi in 1962 to Eral and Carolyn Carpenter, who precedes him in death. He is survived by his wife Diana Reid Carpenter, married 34 years, his son Patrick Carpenter, brother Larry Carpenter, Sister-in-Law Donna Carpenter, sister Sharon Turner, nephew Collin Carpenter, Alex Turner and niece Jordan Carpenter. 

He was a graduate of Mississippi State University where he earned his Bachelor's in Geology in 1984. In 1986, he earned his Bachelors of Personnel Management from the University of Southern Mississippi. He then went on to earn his MBA from Millsaps College in 1999. He spent 7 years serving his country in the United States Army where he served during Operation Desert Shield & Desert Storm achieving the ranking of Captain (1st Cavalry Division). He went on to become a Human Resources Manager for major corporations in both Mississippi and Tennessee.

While attending Mississippi State University, he was an active member of the Wesley Foundation. He was a master wood worker, participated in numerous Marathons and Warrior Dash competitions, loved working on his Ford Mustang and was the head roadie for his son's band. He taught Sunday school for over 30 years, most recently at St. Matthew's United Methodist Church where his family actively attended and participated in Madison, MS.

He was known for his always endearing smile, infectious personality and the ability to work with all types of people. He will be sorely missed by his friends and family.

    What I will always remember about Scott is how proud he is of his wife and son. My thoughts are turned to you, Diana and Pat, during this difficult time.

    I have wonderful memories of Scott, Diana, and Patrick during our years together at Christ United Methodist Church in Jackson. A great man will be greatly missed!

    A great man in every way a wonderful Christian, husband, father, uncle, cousin and my nephew. I am so sad -Scott was such a joy to everyone that was around him.
