Evander Jace Britt

Graveside service for Evander Jace Britt will be 2 p.m., Sunday, March 29, 2020, at Riverwood Memorial Park. Bro. Tony Ganey will officiate.

Evander is the infant son of McKenzie Le’Shea White, born March 25, 2020, at Merit Health in Vicksburg, MS.

He is preceded in death by his great grandfather, Marty Britt; great, great grandfathers, Clyde Allred, Charles White, Paul Tolbert Sr. and Troy Britt; great, great grandmothers, Edith White, Nettie Jane Tolbert, and Pauline Britt.

He is survived by his mother; grandparents, Misty and Daniel Britt, of Vicksburg, MS, and Mike Clark and Connie Thorpe, of Vidalia, LA; great grandparents, David and Inez White, of Vidalia, LA, Marty and Shelley Britt, of Edwards, MS; great, great grandmother, Frances Allred, of Brookhaven, MS; uncles, Dylan Britt, Payton Britt, and Parker Britt, all of Vicksburg, MS; one aunt, Maddison Britt, of Vicksburg, MS; great uncles, Mark White, of Vidalia, LA and James Perry, of Vicksburg, MS; and great aunt, Rachel Perry, of Vicksburg, MS.

Mattie "Punch" Garrett Smith

Mrs. Mattie “Punch” Garrett Smith, 89, of Brookhaven, went to be with her Lord on March 26, 2020, at her residence.
She was born on September 21, 1930, to the late George Byron Garrett, and Ruby Little Garrett.

Mrs. Mattie was a homemaker, she enjoyed cooking, sewing, spending time with her grandchildren and family and she loved flowers.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Shelton V. Smith, daughter, Janice Lynn Smith, brothers, Jessie Willard Garrett, George Byron Garrett, Jr. and Joseph E. Garrett.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Judy Adams and husband, Jimmy, Kathy McGehee and husband, Robert Earl and Debbie Smith.

She is also survived by her 3 grandchildren, Kim Adams Keene and husband Ronnie, Dana McGehee Moak and husband Dwayne, Chae Richardson and wife, Nikki;

7 great-grandchildren, Kaylee Beth Keene, Madison Moak, Brady Richardson, Brooke Richardson, Ty Montague, Derek Keene, and Christian Keene.

Ray Lee

Graveside for Mr. Ray Lee is 1:00 pm Friday, March 27, 2020, at Powell’s Grove United Pentecostal Church Cemetery.

Mr. Ray Lee, 80, died on Wednesday, March 25, 2020, at his residence.

He was born on July 12, 1939, to the late Robert E. Lee and Louis Beaube Lee.

 

Preceding him in death were his parents, a sister Zeda L. Wade (Darrell), a son in law Michael L. Smith,

a grandson Nathan Allen Johnson and a niece Terri Wade.

 

Mr. Lee’s pride and joy was his family and grandchildren. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 54 years, Helen P. Lee;

daughter Shelia Lee-Smith; son Robert E. Lee (Debbie); daughter Stacey L. Hodges (Charlie); daughter Stephanie L. Johnson (Allen); and daughter Sandra L. Keen (Chris).

He is also survived by nine (9) grandchildren; Whitney Smith, Michael R. Smith (Alyssa), Chase Hodges, Raley Keen, Morgan Keen, Cayden Johnson,

Ciera Byrd, Kayla Graves (Jonathan), Lindsey Johnson; and one (1) great-grandchild; MacKennah Graves.

Also left to cherish his memories are his beloved cousins Paul and Betty Lee Odom and extended family.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran serving during peacetime between 1958-1964. He loved gardening, construction projects,

and most recently truck driving. He founded SDL Enterprises, Inc., the family trucking business. He worked in many professions

during his lifetime including civil service, landscaping, dairy manager, convenience store owner, construction, and he was truly a jack of all trades.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Mr. Lee’s honor to the American Lung Association.

Terrie S Knight McKnight

Graveside service for Mrs. Terrie S. Knight McKnight will be 11:00 am Thursday, March 26, 2020,

at Powell’s Grove United Pentecostal Church Cemetery.

Terrie S. Knight McKnight, 59, of Tylertown went to be with her Lord and Savior on March 22, 2020.

She was born on February 23, 1961, to the late Rev. Jesse E. Knight and Lois Lorraine Wells Knight.

Terrie loved spending time with her family, spoiling her puppies, she loved art, puzzles and she was a collector of antique Volkswagen Models.

She was a great wife and mother and a member of Powell’s Grove United Pentecostal Church.

 

Preceding her in death were her parents, Rev. Jesse Knight and Lois Knight brothers, Jerry Knight, George Knight, Wilson Knight, Larry Knight;

sisters, Rhoda Knight, Liz Knight Desmond, and Delores Knight Pierre.

 

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Martin McKnight, Sr.; son, Martin McKnight, Jr., and wife, Lori; daughters,

Amanda McKnight LeCompte and husband, Randy, Jessica McKnight Threeton and husband Adam; brothers Garry Knight and wife Marie and Glen Knight;

and sister, Linda Knight Coats.

She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, Kaylee Threeton, Kelsey Threeton, Haley LeCompte, Elijah LeCompte, Jesse LeCompte,

Kamron Threeton, Justin LeCompte, Abby McKnight, Kaitlyn Threeton, and Ethan McKnight.

Keithen James Bishop

Mr. Keithen James Bishop, 20, of Bogue Chitto, MS, passed from this life March 20, 2020, at his residence.

He was born in Pasadena, TX May 9, 1999, and was the son of James David Bishop and Stacy Dawn Bishop.

Keithen worked as a sales associate with Bozeman Tire. He was a very active person,

he enjoyed spending time with friends riding on backroads and skateboarding.

Keithen had an infectious smile and a personality that would light up a room.

When he laughed it was contagious. He could be called a “people person”

as he never met a stranger and was willing to help anyone for any reason.

We are thankful to God for the time He gave Keithen to us, he will be missed greatly.

 

He is preceded in death by his great grandmothers, Louis Talbot and Geneva Coghlan,

 

Those who remain to cherish his memory are his parents; brothers, Gabriel Barrios and Carson Cartez;

sister, Allicia Bongio; and a host of other loving family members and friends.

Geraldine Smith

Geraldine Carlisle Smith took her heavenly flight on March 18, 2020.
Geraldine was born on September 15, 1945, in Brookhaven.

A resident of Lincoln County, Geraldine resided in both Brookhaven and
the Fair River Community.  She was a lifelong member of Fair River
Baptist Church.   She graduated from Brookhaven High School in 1963 and
attended Copiah-Lincoln Junior College.

On May 6, 1966, Geraldine married the love of her life Darrel G. Smith.
They were married for almost 47 years until his death in 2013.

Geraldine had a special connection with people of all ages and touched
their lives. She worked with children when she drove a bus for the
Lincoln County School District.  Her greatest gift, however, was working
with the elderly.  She was a Certified Nursing Assistant and loved
caring for them for many years in area nursing homes.

Geraldine had a gift for making people laugh and she was also gifted in
writing poetry.  She would share her feelings and express her love
through her passion for writing poems.

Preceding Geraldine in death other than her husband are her parents,
Conaway and Louise Carlisle, sister and brother-in-law Carolyn and Vern
Kingsmill, and nieces Mary Leanne and Wendy Carol Kingsmill.

Geraldine is survived by her sisters Lavenia Townsend (David) of
Baytown, TX and Crickett Carlisle (Jimmie) of Brookhaven.  Geraldine is
also survived by her five beloved nieces and nephews whom she loved as
if they were her own and gave them special names. Davida “My Baby”
Rosser (Beau) James “Fleabop” Kingsmilll (Deborah) Kevin “Little
Man” Townsend (Diane), Beth “Screwworm” Schlauch (Wes) and Anita
“Heathcliff” Boyd (Chris).  She is also survived by an aunt, Nonerle
Hanshew of Sontag, special cousin and friend Mary Lane Posey (Junior).
She is survived by her “little dog” Precious.  She is also by
survived numerous great-nieces and nephews, one great-great niece, many
cousins, and too many friends to count

In lieu of usual remembrances, the family requests that donations be
made to offset her funeral and burial costs. Any remaining funds will be
designated to the ministries of Fair River Baptist Church.  Donations
can be made out and mailed to Davida Rosser at 214 Prairie St.
Highlands, TX 77562. Please designate Geraldine Smith Memorial on the
memo line. We appreciate your gifts, but most importantly we treasure
your prayers during this time.

A memorial service will be planned and held at a later date.

Corey Allen Hux

Corey Allen Hux, 44, of Bogue Chitto, passed away March 19, 2020, in Hammond LA

He was born on October 9, 1975, to Claude Allen Hux and Mary Etta Herrin Hux.

Corey was a member of Bogue Chitto Baptist Church. He enjoyed graphic designs as an occupation and as a hobby.

Preceding him in death were his father; nephew, Rusty Stubbs and niece, Kelsey Lynn Avants.

Those left to cherish his memory are his mother, Mary Hux; sisters, Valerie Stubbs and Debby Hicks; nephews, Jason Avants, and Nathan Avants.

There will be a memorial service held at a later date.

Danita Janette Sandifer

Graveside service for Ms. Danita Janette Sandifer of Ferriday LA., are

10:00 am, Thursday, March 19, 2020, at New Hope Methodist Church Cemetery.

Ms. Danita Janette Sandifer, 60, passed away on March 16, 2020, at Camelot Leisure Living in Ferriday, LA.

She was born on January 26, 1960, to the late William Paul Sandifer Sr. and Juanita Norton Sandifer.

Janette was a caregiver for the elderly and she loved flowers.

 

Preceding her in death were her parents.

 

Those left to cherish her memory are her brother, Bill Sandifer and wife June; nephews,

Matt Sandifer and wife Christy, Ben Sandifer and wife, Trena;

great-nephews and nieces, Jameson, Madilynn, Jacie and Paul Sandifer.

 

The family request that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the

Curtis James Smith

Visitation and Gathering for Mr. Curtis James Smith will be held on Tuesday Evening, March 17, 2020, from 5:00 – 8:00 pm at Riverwood Family.

 

Mr. Curtis James Smith, 83, of Brookhaven, passed from this life on March 14, 2020, at Haven Hall Nursing Home.

He was born in Brookhaven on February 10, 1937, to James K. Smith and Hollis Smith Smith.

Mr. Smith worked for Kelly-Coppedge as a Heavy Equipment Operator and was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

He was an avid Loyd Star Hornet; a member of the Booster Club and loved being the groundskeeper for over 20 years. He also loved cutting grass and spending time with his family and friends.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Relda Joyce Smith; son, Lance Smith and sister, Jerelene Walker and nephew Kendall Traxler.

Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter and son-in-law, Lisa Gaye Smith Bodin and Van Bodin; one daughter-in-law, Kristy Smith;

sisters, Aileen Traxler, Peggy Porter, Linda-Faye Smith, and Charlotte Terrell; along with five grandchildren, Ashley Croas, Amber Hall, Andrew Bodin, Kacy Nelson,

and Kaylin Smith. He is also survived by six great-grandchildren, Duncan, Alyssa, Anabel, Kade, Asher, and Aiden.

 

 

Due to COVID-19 and the recommendations from the CDC, we are trying to keep all gatherings smaller than 50 people. Because of the unique circumstances,

the funeral is by invitation only to follow these guidelines. We understand and know that he was a beloved member of the community and many would like

to pay their respects to Curtis, but we ask that you be health-conscious in this current situation. We respectfully ask if you have any symptoms (fever, coughing, or sore throat),

to refrain from attending the viewing.

A viewing will be at Riverwood Family Funeral Service 5-8 pm Tuesday, March 17th.

Robert Malcolm King

Services for Mr. Robert Malcolm King will be held on Tuesday Afternoon, March 17, 2020, at 2:00pm at Riverwood Family with visitation prior to the service from 1:00pm til time of service.

Robert Malcolm King, 63, of Brookhaven, passed from this life on March 14, 2020. He was born on April 12, 1957, to Leonard Malcolm King and Natalie Marcisak King.

Mr. King loved hunting, fishing, playing guitar and was a member of Bogue Chitto Assembly of God.

Preceding him in death were his parents; sister, Donna King; brothers, Leondard King and William Kerry King.

Those left to cherish his memory is his sister, Sharon Bumgardner; sister-in-law, Vicky King and one uncle, Fred Mahaffey along with one cousin, Larry Steger.
