Allen Mitchell Davis

The funeral service for Allen Mitchell Davis will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, February 7th, at Riverwood Family with burial in Riverwood Memorial Park. Visitation is from 11 a.m. until the time of the service.

Mitchell, 88, of Brookhaven, passed away from this life February 4, 2025. He was born in Monticello, MS, on March 6, 1936, to Alex J. Davis and Lula Foster Davis. After graduating from Monticello High School, he attended the University of Southern Mississippi and graduated from Louisiana State University School of Banking and the American Bankers Association National Installment Credit School and Commercial Lending School at the University of Oklahoma. He was in banking for 44 years and retired from Trustmark National Bank Brookhaven as Senior Vice President.

He is a Charter member of Christ Methodist Church Brookhaven. For 30 years he was a member of First United Methodist Church Brookhaven where he was a member of the Men’s Bible Class and served on the Finance Committee. He served 26 years as the Brookhaven United Methodist District Treasure.

He was a member of Brookhaven Masonic Lodge #241 and a member of Wahabi Shrine Temple in Jackson, MS, and the order of the Eastern Star Chapter #1.

He served nine years in the Mississippi Army National Guard to the rank of staff sergeant and a graduate of the 31st Infantry (Dixie) Division N.C.O. School.

He was a past board member of Brookhaven Academy and served as Treasurer. A past board member of the Chamber of Commerce and recipient of the membership award. Past president of the Brookhaven Exchange Club and received the John L. Leary award. A past Salvation Army Treasurer for Brookhaven. He has served on the Brookhaven Planning Committee. He is serving as a Commissioner of the Brookhaven Housing Authority.

He loved his family and church, traveling, and loved to play golf and went on many golf trips with friends and family.

He loved Brookhaven, the people, and talked about how good they had been to him.

Preceding him in death is his wife of 65 years, Linda; his parents; sister, Irene Catt; brother-in-law, Earl Catt; and sister-in-law, Sarah Maxine Davis.

He is survived by a daughter, Cheryl May (Donald); two grandsons, Allen Davis May (Leigh Ann) and Trent Collins May; great granddaughter, Adalynn May; brother, Julius Davis; and niece, Mary Lou Rodrigues; and nephew, Randy Catt.

Charles Edward O'Brien

A memorial service for Charles Edward O’Brien will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, February 7, at Southway Baptist Church in Brookhaven with the burial in Riverwood Memorial Park. Visitation is from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service.  

Mr. O’Brien, 83, of McComb, MS, died February 1, 2025, at his residence. He was born in McComb on September 14, 1941, to Alva Lee O’Brien and Olive Ruth Drew O’Brien.

Charlie was a faithful husband and loving father, grandfather and great grandfather. He spent many years driving an 18-wheeler, providing for his family. His smile was one that could light up a room and make everyone in it smile with him. He enjoyed playing solitaire on the computer and cheering on his favorite sports team, the New Orleans Saints. Charlie was deeply loved by his family and his absence will be forever felt.

He is preceded in death by his parents; sons, Charles E. O’Brien, Jr. and Mark Allen O’Brien; grandson, Chris Valentine and great grandson, Kody Allen O’Brien Davis; brother, Patrick O’Brien and sister, Barbara Anepohl.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 50 years, Kerry Sue Jordan O’Brien; children, Erin O’Brien and Karla O’Brien Wooley; brothers, Ricky O’Brien (Zoe), Alvie O’Brien; sister, Merry Johnson; seven grandchildren, Tiffany, April, Paige, Angelle, Megan, Kayla, and Jordan; and six great grands, Mya, Mattie, Ahna, Noah, Ella, and Kennidy. He is also survived by his faith family at Southway and a host of other loving family members and friends.

The O’Brien family offers appreciation to Stephanie Turnbo, a very special friend of the family.

Kenneth Earl Prather

A memorial gathering for Mr. Kenneth Earl Prather of Bogue Chitto will be at 3:00 pm, Wednesday, February 5, 2025, at Riverwood Family with visitation from 1:00 until the time of service.

Mr. Kenneth Earl Prather, 76, passed away on January 31, 2025, at his home in Bogue Chitto. He was born on January 22, 1949, to the late Walter Prather and Analo White Prather.

Mr. Prather worked in the oilfield and was a Pleasant Hill Baptist Church member.

He was an avid outdoorsman and loved piddling. He was a devoted Christian who always put God first and then his family, taking care of them and spending time with them.

Preceding him in death were his parents; four brothers and six sisters.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 51 years, Brenda Prather; children, Bradley Prather (Sherry) Brandy Jones (Nathan) and Billy “Peanut” Prather and (Lyndsay) “Bae Bae”; brothers, Hugh V. Prather and David Prather; sister, Lenora Rials; along with his seven grandchildren, Tay Prather, Skylar Prather, Emily Galindo, Christian Jones, Natalie Jones, Karter Prather and Conner Jones and great-granddaughter, Olivia Galindo and two great-grandsons on the way. He is also survived by his lifelong friend, Gary Boutwell. We will always love and miss you, Pops.

for their care and devotion to Mr. Prather’s care.

James "Jim" Williams, Jr.

The funeral service for James “Jim” Williams, Jr. will be 11 a.m., Monday, February 3, at Riverwood Family with burial in Easthaven Cemetery. Visitation is from 9 a.m. until the time of service at Riverwood.

Mr. Williams, Jr., 97, of Brookhaven, died January 30, 2025, in Brookhaven. He was born in Nola, MS on December 7, 1927, to Jim and Lillian (Gray) Williams.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Charlene Williams; brothers, Toxie Williams, John Williams, and Tommy Williams; and sisters, Doris Townsend, Claire Ruth Pittman, Ruby Dale Magee, Sue Smith, and Inez Smith.

Survivors include his three daughters, Barbara Jean Giacone (Roy) of Covington, LA, Jeanette Parker (Stuart) of Bogalusa, LA, and Vicki Lynn Miller of Hermitage, TN; sisters, Joy Moore of Prattville, AL, and Ernestine Holmes and Evonne Case both of Brookhaven, MS; 9 grandchildren, Kevin Michael Giacone, Bryan Paul Giacone, Barry Parker (Heather), Wade Parker (Shannon), Darren Parker, Toby Miller (Jill), Trent Miller (Kim), Terri Fentress (Joshua), and Denny Miller (Amanda); 17 great grandchildren and 3 great, great grandchildren.

Elaina Lee Wilson

Elaina Lee Wilson, 66, of Brookhaven, passed away January 27, 2025, at her residence. She was born in San Diego, California, June 3, 1958, to Thomas Wilson and Mildred Nold Wilson.

Our mom was a fierce friend. She loved her family and too many friends to list. She was the definition of “loyal”. She loved her pets and “grand puppies”. She enjoyed listening to music, and despite being almost blind, she always had a new book to read. In less than 24 hours after she passed, the outpouring of messages we have seen from her “Broma’s kids”, who worked with her for over twenty years until she retired in December, has been humbling. We will always be proud of who she was and who she raised us to be.

Ms. Wilson is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Terry Wilson; and friend, Vanessa Pohl.

Those left to cherish her memory are sons, Nicholas Martin and James Martin (Heather), and brothers, Thomas Anthony Wilson, Robin Wilson, Dennis Wilson, and James Wilson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Brookhaven Animal Rescue League or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.

Todd Lee Fennell

Todd Lee Fennell, 49, of Hazlehurst, died January 28, 2025. He was born in Hattiesburg, MS, April 11, 1975, to Walter Ford Fennell and Glenda Dwynell Gray Fennell.

Todd was a new, born-again Christian that turned his life over to Christ. He had a very strong faith in God and prayed daily. He was devoted to his family and was always there to do whatever he needed to help in any way. He also loved his animals unconditionally.

He had many hobbies including cars, motorcycles, and anything to do with audio. Todd enjoyed life to the fullest.  He is loved by many, and his memory will be a blessing to everyone who loved him.

Todd is preceded in death by his father; grandfather, Charles E. Fennell; grandmothers, Ruth Fennell and Frances Gray; uncles, Erenst Fennell, Tommy Fennell, and Carl Fennell; and aunt, Linda Ann Broom.

Survivors include his mother, Glenda D. Fennell; grandfather, Garlen Gray; brother, Bryan Fennell (Amy); sister, Tera Simoneaux (Ronnie); two nieces, Abbey Fennell and Taylor Simoneaux; one nephew, Zachary Simoneaux; and uncles and aunts, Grant & Jeanie Gray and Doyle & Shelia Gray.

Clyde Monroe Lofton

The funeral service for Clyde Monroe Lofton will be 11 a.m., Saturday, February 1st, at Riverwood Family, with burial in Easthaven Cemetery, Brookhaven, MS. Visitation is from 9 a.m. until the time of service at Riverwood.

Mr. Lofton, 85, of Seminary, MS, died January 28, 2025, at Harriet House in Sumrall, MS. He was born in Brookhaven, MS, on November 9, 1939, to Clyde Harrison Lofton and Dorothy Johnston Lofton. He served his country 8 years in the United States Army National Guard.

Mr. Lofton was actively involved in his community, serving as a member of both the Masonic Lodge and the Moose Lodge, and Level Woods Exchange Club. He also coached Little League Baseball for Forest Hill Youth Club. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying time spent hunting and fishing, and looking after his horses and cows.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his son, Kevin Wade Lofton, and grandson, Kristopher Keith Lofton.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Lynda Byrd Lofton; children, Keith Lofton (Cathy), and Kendall M. Lofton (Peggy); sister, Hilda Lofton Stephens; two grandchildren Wendi McLendon (Mitch), Jacob Lofton; two step grandsons, Ryan Micklos (Heather) and Matt Micklos (Elyssa); great grandson, Brycen McLendon, and two step great grands, Rune Micklos and Ezra Micklos; he is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

The Lofton family express great appreciation to Harriet House in Sumrall, MS, St. Jospeh Hospice in Hattiesburg, MS, and Arden Hospice, Hattiesburg, MS.

Willie Earline Deloach

Willie Earline Deloach, 91, of Monticello, MS, died January 27, 2025, at the Beehive Assisted Living in Brookhaven. She was born in Carroll County MS on August 26, 1933, to Erwin Thompson and Mary Rainey Carrol Thompson.

Mrs. Deloach worked as a cook for many years in Grenada at Hambone Café where they served soldiers who were living and stationed at Camp McCain.

She is preceded in death by her parents and four sons, Lynn Jackson, Wayne Jackson, Roger Jackson, and Tim Jackson.

She is survived by her children, Dale Jackson (Linda) and Rebecca Nelson (Jerry); a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren; and friend, Mable Ashmore.

Timothy Edward Waldrop

A memorial service for Timothy Edward Waldrop will be held at Noon, on Friday, January 31, at Riverwood Family. A memorial gathering will be from 10 a.m. until the time of service.

Mr. Waldrop, 61, of McComb, passed away January 26, 2025, at St. Dominics Medical Center in Jackson. He was born in Brookhaven on January 7, 1964, to Willard Ray Waldrop and Ruth Jane Fairchild Waldrop. Mr. Waldrop was an amazing husband and father. He worked hard to meet the needs of his family. His favorite pastime was watching movies and listening to his favorite tunes. He was a God-fearing man, loving the Lord above all others and a man strong in his convictions. He leaves a legacy of faith and values to his children and grandchildren.

Mr. Waldrop is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Gregory Waldrop.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 28 years, Angela Waldrop; children, Whitney Waldrop, Jessica Waldrop, and Alexandra Waldrop; sisters, Teresa Nix (Randy), and Pamela Williams (Steven); two grandchildren, Abigail Smith and Silas Hart; niece, Brooke Williams; nephew, Tyler Waldrop; his best friend, Bobby Zimmerman and a host of other loving family members and friends. He will be greatly missed by all who loved him.

Sherri Michelle Hughes Miller Bankston, 56, of Bogue Chitto, died January 25, 2025, at King’s Daughters Medical Center. She was born in Tulsa OK, on December 22, 1968, to Clarence D. Hughes and Sherry Joan Roberson Miller.

Michelle loved Jesus above all else. It was her desire that everyone knew the love that Jesus gave, and she was a witness to everyone she met of that love. She was a member of Wellman Baptist Church. She had a contagious laugh; everyone who knew her knew when she walked into a room the atmosphere changed. Michelle was generous and compassionate and found great pleasure in helping anyone in need. She truly loved being “Nonnie” to her grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Ernest and Zelma Roberson and Clarence and Velma Hughes.

She is survived by her parents, William Kent Miller and Sherry Joan Miller; children, Marissa Reynolds and Lauren Keely Bankston; brothers and sisters, Crystal Shamille Rowell, William Kelly Miller (Crystal Nicole), Tammy Robinson (Gary), Todd Miller (Heather), Tiffany Horn (Jeff), Dwaina Smith, Samuel Hughes, Daniella Hughes; seven grandchildren, Braylen Pappas, Avree Pappas, Isabella Pappas, Rylee Reynolds, Brantley Reynolds, Derek Reynolds, and William R.
