Kevin Michael Wilson

Memorial service for Kevin Michael Wilson will be 2 p.m., Saturday, February 19, 2022, at Bethel Baptist Church in Monticello. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of service at Bethel.

Mr. Wilson, 37, of Monticello, passed from this life February 14, 2022. He was born in McComb, MS, September 4, 1984, to Michael and Victoria Wilson. He worked in the chip hauling business, driving trucks, but Kevin was so much more. He was an inquisitive soul and thrived while learning new things. His hobbies were many and diverse, his interest knew no bounds. He was a talented musician and enjoyed listening to music. He spent time studying Celtic and Nordic history, star gazing, and dreaming. Kevin also enjoyed the arts and gaming. Of all the things he cherished, his wife and fur babies were what he treasured above them all. He loved his family and joyfully spent time with them at every opportunity. His presence will be greatly missed by all who loved him.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Vickie Wilson and his uncle, Steve Wilson.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of four years, Amanda Bowman Wilson; father, Mike Wilson; his beloved fur baby, Auri Wilson; sister, Lydia Barnett and husband, Michael; nieces and nephew, Zoe, Gavin, and Hayden Barnett; four uncles and a host of cousins. He is also survived by family he gained through marriage, Debbie and Ronnie Douglas, J.L. and Penny Bowman, Jack and Ashley Bowman, and Logun Smith.

My dear friend, all I can say is THANK YOU! Thank you for being an amazing friend to me and my family. For giving me great advice during my ups and downs. You taught me to live my life to the fullest and to never let my past define my future. You showed me what strength and perseverance really means as a person. Even on the darkest days, you were still able to have a sense of humor and smile. I'm so blessed the Lord allowed us to cross paths in life. But most of all thank you for being the best husband and friend to my best friend Amanda. You were her calm in every storm, you were the strength she needed to rise up on the bad days and always made her smile. Your smile was contagious and your sense of humor was brilliant. You sir were one of a kind! There will never be another Kevin like you. Continue to watch over us from up above. You will be greatly missed.

Kevin was a "one of a kind soul"! It was my honor to be his pastor. I will never forget the nick-name (K-Max) his peers gave him during his high school days. Partly, to recognize his singing voice, K-Max got his nick-name from the renegade Christian artist, Kevin Smith of dctalk. Due to his big-big personality and his even bigger heart, Kevin "Max" got the second part of his nick-name. "If you never met K-Max, you missed someone that you would never forget"! So K-Max, let that base see the back of yo hand and play brother play, in that heavenly rock-n-roll band! See ya, soon. Dr. Dave

My heart hurts for all of you. Praying God will give you strength and comfort during this difficult time. Kevin was always a joy to be around. Loved all those “band kids”.

My heart aches. Of all the "little league" summer baseball players that were on my teams with my sons down at Mac Dale Park, Kevin was, in his own inimitable way, one of the most unforgettable. I'll always treasure the memories of his constantly grinning face and happy-go-lucky attitude about baseball as he gave his very best to compete regardless of the results of his efforts. I'll never forget the homerun he hit as a 12-year-old during one of our league games. It barely carried over the right field fence but to him it was a Ruthian clout. He celebrated it to the fullest extent in the what seemed like at least five minutes he took to round the bases in his indescribable home run trot. Kevin was a true Renaissance man and Rebel/rebel. He lived his life HIS way. Those of us who are fortunate enough to have known him during his entirely too short life have been blessed. And I'm confident that Heaven has gained an angel whose presence will make it an even happier place. Happy trails, Kevin. Hotty Toddy!
