A celebration of life will be held for Juanita Shannon Shuler, 11 a.m., Friday, March 21, at Riverwood Family with burial in Brister’s Cemetery. Visitation is from 9 a.m. until the time of the service at Riverwood.
Mrs. Shuler, 87, of Biloxi, MS, passed away March 15, 2025, at her residence. She was born in Bogue Chitto, MS, on June 28, 1937, to John Vernon Smith and Lois Magdelene Denson Smith. She was employed with the state of North Carolina for several years and later owned and operated Carolina Battery Company with her husband, Mel Shuler.
Mrs. Shuler’s family was her heart. She was active in every part of their lives. She enjoyed socializing with friends and family and especially enjoyed playing card games. She was an accomplished Bridge player, often playing in competitions. The world will be an emptier place without her.
She is preceded in death by her husbands, James H. Shannon and Jesse Melvin Shuler; her parents; and her brother, Jimmy Smith.
Survivors include her children, Kerry S. Becker, Jim Shannon, and Marcine Shannon; brothers, John Smith and Sydney Smith; sisters, Sina Molitor and Bert Hernandez; five grandchildren, Jamie Shannon (Elizabeth), Michael Shannon, Jack Shannon, Samantha Becker, and Jessica Becker (Dang Huy Nguyen); and three great grandchildren.
