Steven Ray Wages, 68, of Wesson, died February 11, 2025, at Copiah County Medical Center. He was born in Memphis, TN, October 13, 1956, to Paul Wages and Mae Tutor Wages.
Steve served his country in the United States Navy.
Being in the great outdoors was his passion. He loved the life he lived and all the people who shared it with him. He loved to hunt, fish, ride, and tell stories. If you ever asked him a question, he had the answer. His favorite thing to do was spend time with his family, especially his great grand-babies. They brought him so much joy. He accomplished many great things in life. He was a firefighter for many years and loved helping people. He successfully ran his own business for 16 years. He enjoyed teaching about being safe in everything you do in your life. He was always passing on his knowledge to others. He made mission trips to Montana and Wyoming, telling others about God’s love. The great outdoors and God’s beautiful works were something he was always marveled by. He trusted God above all. His loving wife, who he adored and called “doll”, was always there for him. There was never a day that went by that his family didn’t know that he loved them and that he was always there. His wisdom, charm, laughter, and guidance will be missed.
He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Wanda Autrey; and great-grandson, Owen Dean Runyan.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 49 years, Gwen Wages; children, Tony Wages (Melinda), Stephanie Harris (Jerimy), and Becky Foster (Joe); sisters, Arlia Pace (Tracy), Bonnie Ravenhorst (Neil), and Rhonda Leggett; nine grandchildren, Tiffany Barlow (Quinten), Matthew Wages, Brandi Runyan (Blake),
Chase Coghlan, Tyler Coghlan, Alex Coghlan, Natalie Ward (Corey), Nickalas Harris, and Tripp Harris; and five great grandchildren, Jasper Barlow, Ollie Runyan, Marleigh Barlow, and Isaac Runyan.
The family would like to give special thanks to Copiah County Medical Center staff for all the extraordinary work performed on Steven. You are much loved and deeply cared for.
